Sounds like ford has nothing like what many people claim. I've verified ability to reset the counter on a buddy's car....so sounds like nothing special. There's a register that holds a value...it's overwriteable, not even protected in firmware, and goes with a hard reset. Doesn't sound too effective to me.

There are two different counters. Are you sure you found the reprogram counter and not the reset counter. I know there is a counter that monitors times the dtcs are cleared on the new models. Not sure if it counts resets though. All I know is about the reprogram counter. I'm specializing in electronics and have done some good research on it. Soposed to be harder to get to than you defined but I don't spend my tome looking for ways to bypass it.

You'll have to excuse me, but I'd rather not tip my hand on exactly how it's done on a forum filled with ford reps. If I do that, I'll have to work to find another way in, and suspend the stream of revenue those resets bring in for me.

Yeah he prob def is one of the tuners that caused these issues.

My advice is unless you need an actual shop tune if you have a supercharger etc. You should def look into getting a tune from a reputable tuner such as, BAMA (through American muscle) or steeda. Those are very reliable and "safe" tuners.

More power to you man.

I don't run a factory tune on my car and I played around a lot with efi live when I had my silverado. Happy hacking lol

2012GT, consider this your last warning. If you continue to post ill-formed opinions about the way a tune works and attack other members, you'll be getting a vacation notice.

Thread cleaned due to the personal nonsense that 2012GT started.

Oops, had to go the principal's office.... My car is tuned , so please write it down Ford. Before I modify any aspect of my car, I thoroughly research what I'm doing. There wasn't anything "ill-formed" about what I've done to my own car. I didn't attack anyone ad hominem Overboost. If people cry because their opinions are disagreed with by others, then it's not my fault. I won't quit voicing my opinion about these great cars now or later on a public forum. I speak on experience. You don't see me on the suspension section telling people how to lower their cars do you? News alert : that's because mine is a 4x4 , look at it. I know very little about that topic. Anyway, have a great day. I'm going out to embarrass a Camaro.

Nope that doesn't work, only on the 05-10's.

Any more updates on this I'd like to know, as I have a Steeda tune, as well as a Steeda CAI. All installed by a ford dealership technician?

Are bama tunes really "safe" bc either way your warranty is going to be voided.. But then again I heard that if the tune causes engine trouble am will fix your car?

Yes. Like everything new, there were some bugs. But they have them worked out by now.

I was reading some specs & reports on Bama's "Diablosport InTune" Tuner. One report says that it also has the ability to NOT leave a footprint on the PCM (and maybe clear footprints, and possibly clear flash counters).

Does anyone have one of these DiableSport Tuners, and can it indeed flash a PCM w/o leaving a footprint (and or clear flash history and/or Flash Counters)??
