3:73 vs. 3:55 issue

I mentioned in another post that I was getting the dreded rear end noise or whine and my car was going to a Ford dealer for work. I was talking to the service guy at the shop and it looks like a new ring and pinion for me under warranty. Long story short he says if the 3:73 gears are back ordered would I be ok with an option of say 3:55 gears? Anyway I said let's see if they are indeed back ordered and if so I will let him know.

My question is how much will I notice the change from 3:73 to 3:55? Although I do like the low end pull of this car at times I really feel esp on the highway the gears could be taller? Is it worth the change or just wait until the 3:73's become available?

Unless you are a competitor dealing in very small fractions of seconds, the 3.73-3.55 difference will be practically undetectable, less than a needle's width on your speedometer.

You'll have the additional comfort of knowing the car will travel that much longer a distance before the magic Warranty Limit sets in.
