About 5 or 6 feet. I just used some 18ga speaker wire I had sitting around

Did the same to the ground and then re-routed the wires around to the area under the rear decklid. Had to add a little wire to make it reach. Then crimped the female blade connectors to the wires on the LED string and plugged it in. The LED string came with some 3M adhesive backing and has been holding the past few days with no issues. Its been raining and humid here. We will see the first time it gets very cold. And even if the adhesive doesn't hold some real 3M double sided tape will do just nicely.
I like your speaker setup, is that aftermarket upgrade? What do you have?

Alpine type R 12, Kicker 400.1 monoblock. I also have a polk audio 4 channel amp running Polk components up front and Polk 6x9's in the back. I'm using a PAC AOEM-FRD24 Line Output Converter for the front and rear and a Soundstream Bass Epicenter (to the sub amp). The box is custom made by me. I can give you dimensions if you need them. I will be home after wednesday and will get the measurements.

I still don't know why this much light is needed in a trunk. The factory lighting is acceptable for me.

Advance Auto Parts... Though most parts stores seem to have them in various brands.

I did mine by just using the 3 ft run already attached to the 36" light strip. I did not run it all the way to the factory trunk light bulb connector. I tapped in where the harness originates close to the RH taillamp connector. Yello/Green (+) and White/Blue (-)

The problem for me was that as soon as you put a single bag or something in the back of the trunk, all light is blocked and the trunk becomes a black abyss.

By lighting from above, you avoid that problem.

^ exactly why
I also have the trunk cargo net, which is extremely handy, but once you put something in it...bye bye light

I just did this with the LED bulb in the factory location and the 12" strip from Superbright LEDs ...

However, since I put my amps on the rear deck, the light was off center, since I felt putting it in the middle would leave the light too exposed to damage from loading and unloading large bags (hockey gear) in the trunk.

Ordered a second LED light and will have two, one on either side of my amplifiers and the trunk will be fully illuminated.

Will get pics once the second one is here and installed. Already the first one is a HUGE improvement over the light that gets blocked everytime I put something in the trunk, held in place by my cargo net.

Update:

Installed 2 super bright led light bars and the replacement for the factory trunk light.

Here is the LED trunk light by itself:

Here is the trunk with 2 LED light bars. Each located on the rear deck on either side of my amps:

Is there any way to tap into the ambient lighting system so we can change the colors using multi color led light strips?
