Blackcat Custom Gauge faces (Installed)
I would love to see a set installed in person. I did the same thing on my 2011 Camaro 2SS and the lighting was just not the same, not as bright and the font was just not as sharp. After a month I ended up going back with my OEM gauges :-(
There is a minor drop in brightness (by minor I mean almost unnoticeable, though I left the center 4 gauges in so I can somewhat see it there). The font is very sharp. Their warning light indicators are in a slightly heavier font though. From what I can tell, they can make it all in less weighted font if desired, as the edges are very sharp. If I didn't tell you these were aftermarket, the average car guy would have no idea that I had aftermarket gauges in the car and that's what I was looking for, an OE style that matched my tastes.
I'll try to get some shots with a DSLR.

However, install for me was tricky....do NOT twist the needles off. You wil lose all track of where they go back, trust me! Lift them straight off so you can install them back perfect. I have to take my gauges back out for adjustment. the speedo, tach and top center gauges are spot on....but those darn bottom gauges keep moving on me. A little at a time, with every stat up they moved clockwise until after 6 times or so then finally stopped at teh 9 o'clock position.
So Im gonna take the gauges off and lift the needles straight up and swing them to the needed positions. hopefully that fixes the problems. OH and by the way, every time you plug the cluster into the harness it re-calibrates...or so it looks.
I found I didn't need to keep track of where the needles were. They all went to a position just slightly below the zero mark when the cluster was disconnected. So I just pushed the needles back on around mid-travel and then turned them opposite their normal direction until they were positioned one click before the zero mark. All except the oil pressure gauge were perfectly aligned and I only had to move that needle back one additional click. It was a lot easier that way than trying to line them up above the gauge and then push them on without twisting.
From the current posts here, though, sounds like Blackcat has improved and these are not issues anymore?
I have an issue that you all may be able to help with.. what do I do if some of the pins on the connector for the gauges broke? The 2 right pins broke off... I still have them, I just need to know what to do!

oh man, that sucks. Any good with a soldering iron?
you may need to get at the back of that board to desolder the remaining portion of the pins and solder in a fresh pair, or you might be able to solder on those sections on the stubs.

Find a local computer repair center and see if they either have the pins or buy an old board that has some and de-solder the pins from an old board into your board. If you're not comfortable soldering then let the computer repair guy do it.
Nope I just took the simple route and just swapped out the gauge overlays but I did leave the center 4 pack alone since I wanted them to be correct to the model of the car. Replacing the two needles was a trick. Best solution was to plug the gauge back into the car with out the cover and the two needles. While the car was idling at norm temp I then barley pressed the rpm needle on and so forth for the speedo gauge. Unplug the cluster again and remove it from the dash and press the needles into place and re assemble everything and wow the gauges sure change up the looks of the dash. Oh ya I did use a app on my iPhone to check my speed while driving it was right on to the stock gauge.

ran into an issue with mine the other day. Weird, but hen my gas light came on with 50mi to empty, the tach needle shot up to 6k and is now about 3k off. when I shut the car down the needle rests on 3k rpm.
gonna have to pull them off and adjust the needle....AGAIN, like the 6th time!
