Redline didn't have any tips for retrieving the bracket without removing the hood, but they're sending me two new brackets in the mail free of charge (I only need one). I'm still gonna run up to the shop later to see if they can get it out of there...

Find a steep hill or boat ramp and see if you can tap on the hood with your fist (be carefull not to hard) to see if you can shake it to the front. Maybe it will fall out.

+1 - sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

You could also jack the back of your car up high enough to get gravity on your side, but that might be a little sketchy.

WTH is all this. It's 4 bolts!!!! Get a buddy and remove the hood, it's nothing, changing the oil is more difficult.

Try a magnet. Press it against the hood, and grab the piece inside, then slide it up to the opening. The magnet should hold it in place until you can pull it out. I have an old extendable car antenna that was magnetized and use it to retrieve lost nuts and bolts, etc.

Taking the hood off is very easy. Before you take it off make a couple of marks around bracket so you reinstall in same location

Unsure if I want to get the stainless ELITE's or order the body colored PLUS from JLT Performance. I've gotta say, body colored (GHIG in video) isn't a terrible look. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I went with the black ones from Red-line. I don't care for how the body colored ones look with the GHIG

I also put the black one on, after I removed the decals. It looks like it came from the factory with the struts.

I like them because of no big mounting plate and no drill.

Got mine today from CJ's that I ordered Memorial Day weekend. Install was a breeze. It took me less than 20 minutes and I was taking my time. That hardest thing about the install was moving the bracket on the driver's side and that wasn't even hard at all. So glad I waited this long for these struts. They really thought these out well. I love that they used the unused hole in the hood for the upper strut mounts. My previous Mustang had hood struts that mounted to the hood bolts which I didn't like because I was worried about hood alignment. I was extra careful after reading about the other poster that got his stuck in the hood. The bottom mounts use the fender bolts and fit perfectly. I like that they don't get in your way at all if you are working under the hood from the side. All in all I love these and they are worlds better than the last set I bought for my 06.

I am wondering if I want mine in Race Red. I didn't know JLT was selling painted ones when I ordered so I may re-sell my unopened plus ones and go that route...

CJ Pony Parts just shipped mine on Friday basically right when I tried to cancel my order.

Installed!!

The clear bra installer thought they were factory installed. He said it was great to see Ford finally got rid of the stupid prop rod. I told him they didn't... I did!!

Same here. Installed mine last week. Work awesome. Only bad part is that scuff from the original prop rod won't come out

Same here. My usual methods have failed. Maybe I should just get a decal of some sort

Now I want to get rid of the sound tube. Finding a way to remount it in a way I liked took forever. (I ended up reversing the rubber mounting block and turning it 90 degrees, flipping the clip over and bolting it from the bottom)

I actually had mine installed as soon as I got the car and removed the prop rod altogether... no scuff marks <whew>

I think pluses are the way to go. Blend nicely and they're cheap (got mine for $79) you can keep or remove the decal on them. I think the stainless look is rather tacky.
