Great write-up! When I ordered my '14, the puddle lights were a "must have" (as was virtually every other option ). Numerous people have asked me about them in parking lots over the last year...

Just a tip to keep the projector images nice and sharp- when washing the car, put a piece of blue painter's tape over the lens of each projector. Most of the problems associated with these lights is from water making it up into the unit when the car is being washed. Mine are (knock on wood) still nice and sharp after a year and a half.

Mod completed - thanks for the write-up Joshua and tips.

Got mine from Tousley a while back - finally got around to it!

As others have pointed out - just take your time with the covers (I did not want to scratch and also have Xpel film on them - did not want to mess up either). Once I released the top three tabs, then released the bottom and pulled straight back turned out to work best on mine.

And the end result is...cool - just cool!

Can the bulb be replaced if they do go out? Part number? Mine is not a DD so hopefully might be awhile before replacement is needed.

This seems like the kind of thing that just screams "LED Conversion".

Holy crap, they're LED and they're blowing out that often? I assumed they were incandescent based solely on how often you were changing them. Are you sure you don't have a voltage irregularity in that circuit? I don't know if I'd expect quality LEDs to burn out for at least a couple years, longer if they really only come on with the dome light.

bringing this back from the dead.

can someone tell me what this LED bulb for the projector lights is? is it something cheap that can be upgraded to a better bulb?

also, being a noob at this (my electrical skills are limited to changing light bulbs, and even that can be a stretch after it took me 2 hours to swap out a single OEM HID bulb), can someone tell me what "SJB" is? and is there a specific thread somewhere here or on the net that would help someone like me with a 2011 GT premium that dosen't have plug and play?

I'm also going on my third set of pony lamps. Over time they distort due to water intrusion and the displayed image looks like the horse is running through water until its just a blob. Thankfully the dealer has replaced them each time for no cost.

Here is the link to the OEM lamp itself.

Hope this helps. You can certainly get them cheaper through the supporting dealers.

Hey guys, I know I'm resurrecting an old thread and probably the OGs aren't around to post here anymore but it is literally the topic I am looking at

I have a 2013 GT Premium. Have the 7 wires. I bought replacement mirrors on eBay. A driver and passenger. I already installed both.

They both came with the pony projection lights and they work perfectly. They both have the heat symbol on them.

This is a totally dumb question but ... Does the heat symbol on the mirror light up? I turned on the rear defrost button but the symbol on neither mirror light up. At first I assumed the passengers mirror was broken. But instead of complaining to the eBay seller, I decided to test the driver side too, and it took doesn't light. Are those symbols actually lighted when on or am i way off base?

They don’t light up. I think what you are describing is akin to a blind spot monitoring light. They don’t have that. When you installed the mirrors you can also see this. No LED attached to the mirror itself and it’s not a two way etching.

To make certain the heat component is working, depending upon where you live (humidity/cold), you can “fog up“ a mirror with your breath and see if it dissipates, or, the easiest is if you have a temperature gun, you can test it that way.

Congrats on the installation
