Please offer up any info, again, thanks so much!
Considering what I paid for them I'd do it again. I think the hardest is trying to match Kona. You might have better luck with your red.

As for functionality, they're great. Once the hoods popped and unlatched it lifts right open with little to no effort. The struts seem like quality and haven't had any issues at all.

One thing though, the sound tube doesn't fit properly once the lower bracket is installed on the driver's side. I got rid of mine at the same time...engine bay looks better without it.

It's simple; the Redline struts are a better execution of product. They use a proper angle, are sturdier when the hood is up, and provide a slow lift function over the last few inches of travel. To a layman, you could pass them off as OEM.

The CDC/MRT struts are nice, but are designed as a convenience option. They leave the hood flimsy when open, require some modification of the sound tube adapter, and when comparing the two, aren't as solid as the Redline ones. I was originally going to get these until I did more research, and for the same price, I was able to get the Redline set.

Next time you get a chance to see both in action, see if you can move the hood on the CDC/MRT, then do the same with the Redline. If you cry about drilling, then you probably shouldn't mod your car at all.

Thanks for the info, guys. I will see several versions at the next Cars And Coffee by me next weekend. I appreciate the feedback, for all the versions. Steve, I do appreciate your opinion. But, I didn't say I will not drill, I said "I will only drill as a last resort". Not sure how that qualifies as "crying", but if you feel tougher saying it that way, then go for it.

He mentioned "crying" not because of you but because it's usually the main reason for not getting the better redline product.

Why so defensive? Go read any hood strut thread. There's always someone whining that they don't want to drill.

I think it's the fact that there is a "no
Drill" option available. If there was no choice and had to drill, no one would mind.

I heard tho if you slip thru when drilling, you can punch thru the hood? True?! Without the use of a stopper of course.

I like the way the MRT sits back further than the redlines, but curious as to the fit with the MRTs. Do they sit like the ones on AMs site??

I got the mrt kit and its great. Looks factory and its very study. I see no benefit to buying a kit you have to drill if the no drill kit does what you want. If others feel better about themselves because they did a mod and used a drill good for them, guess I should stop modding my car ...

I think some of you need to get over the fact that there is a no drill solution and you have holes in your hood

I like the arguing of each ones point. Gives us who haven't done it yet more to factor into our decision making process.

Now continue ladies LOL jk
