Select shift help

I am looking to upgrade my 2011 mustang V6 with the 13-14 select shift and paddle shifters. Ive seen all the how to's and I understand them but I have just a couple questions about the mod.

First, do I NEED the 13/14 cluster? I don't really care much for the track apps and I already have custom-made premium gauges installed. Plus I'd rather not spend $350 on it if I don't need it.

Second, I understand the PCM needs to be flashed to that of a 13/14, could I just swap in a 13/14 pcm and not have to flash it?

Lastly, if flashing is necessary, can I do it with my ELM327 and forscan?
