Ha Ha yep the sound is intoxicating. The thing with this car is you get a different sound depending on how much of the stock set up you actually change.

when you change out the cats and midpipe it really wakes this beast up.The Steeda axle backs look very similiar to the Magnaflow comp series mufflers I have.

OP did'nt mean to hijack your thread

I agree, after reviewing the clips again, Bassani x-pipe, so far

Hopefully borla will change my mind but who knows.

Anyone else in the same boat?
You are not alone, my first thought when I heard the new 5.0 was it sounded a little European to me. Maybe a catted H or prochamber with some borlas will be the perfect match for this car!?

A couple of ideas:
1) Muffler videos are much more realistic sounding with a good quality set of headphones. THere's no way little PC/notebook speakers can accurately reproduce the bass. With my headphones, when the stock system actually sounds like the stock system, then I feel like I am getting a better idea of what the aftermarket parts sound like.

2) I had a set of undercar chambered exhaust on my 1972 corvette convertible. They duplicated the sound of the "mid-year" (mid-'60's) 'Vettes with sidepipes, but exited at the rear/stock location. I LOVED that exhaust. Very tame when loafing, bad-a$$ when workin it. I especially loved the wah-wah-wah pulse you could hear at idle. So I ran across this the other other day and love it (Stainless Works chambered), but I question whether it's too loud and whether it's legal. Plus it's freakin' $850. But man I love the nasty tone and how it opens up wide at WOT:

There aint no Euro sound with these babies! Anyone else like this?

For those who are waiting for Borla/FRPP Stingers, they are the exact same as the Steeda axleback. This was also the case on the 05-10 S197's. http://www.brenspeed.com/040-130203.html. Borla will also offer their new ATAK exhaust in addition to the Stingers.

From what I have read, the weak link is the mid pipe with it's down sized dia. and pitched resonators.

Christie:

Originally I was definately set on the Bassani exhaust, until I went to Steeda in Pompano Beach to have my lowering springs, CAI and tune installed. Gus showed me one of their 5.0's which had the Steeda Axle Back system installed. When he fired up the car, I was amazed by how great the Steeda's sound...

I have not heard the Bassani's in person, but hope to do so in the very near future to make an educated decision... but for right now, it's Steeda.
