Can someone that is running the Steeda tune on their GT automatic tranny tell me what they think? I've read that Steeda auto tunes are better than Bama's as far as shifting points, etc. going to buy a tune and tuner this week, trying to figure which was to go. Definitely want a 93 oct tune. Car is a daily driver..only other mod is Roush axle backs..

I think you're going to be in good hands regardless of what tune you decide to go with! You're talking about a couple of the best tuners in the world when it comes to Mustang. However, I can guarantee that you'll be extremely happy with our Bama custom tune. We've tuned more 05+ Mustangs than anyone else in the world and we definitely have every aspect of these cars figured out!

The shift points on our tunes are pretty aggressive. They're actually great for your Mustang! Quicker and firmer shifts result in a lot less heat and friction, which will definitely help with the longevity of your transmission. If you do go with a Bama tune and you'd like us to calm the shifts down a bit we can definitely do that. We can also make them stiffer if you don't feel that they're that not as stiff as you read about!

I was just in the same situation 2 weeks ago about deciding which tune to go with on my 2014 GT (Bama or Steeda)

Both tunes are going to be very similar. After a ton of research, looking at reviews, talking to people on forums, Youtube videos etc., I ultimately decided on a BAMA tune.

My reason was BAMA will update your tunes for life for free no matter what mods/parts or where you get them from. They are also extremely responsive. My beef with Steeda was they do not have free tunes for life (but they will edit an existing tune for new parts as long as you buy the parts from them).

So basically, the free tunes for life program was the seller for me. First day I got my new tuner I loaded it in and found an issue with the rev limited setting. I emailed BAMA and within 30 minutes I was emailed a new tune that was perfect!

Another tuner I would consider is VMP. Justin has the autos nailed down on these cars. Oh and I get free revisions all the time.

I ended up giving Steeda a call today and order a SCT X3 and the the 93 octane tune. Matt was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I was asking and wanting. I'm sure that the AM guys are just as helpful, but in the end, it was Steeda relationship with Ford that decided for me. I'll update this thread once I receive the tune and get it installed.

You have 3 options -

1. Get some sticker tires to get traction
2. "pedal" the car. Don't hold it to the floor when you loose traction
3. Three, new tune that shifts softer so the car wont break traction as bad. Send me an email to tim@steeda.com and I can have Gus revise it.

Thanks TJ . We addressed this way over a year ago. I was sent a softer tune and that's exactly what it was. It felt identical to stock. I've just stuck with option 2. Thanks again

Newbie on these "Tuners". Am I to understand that these electronic tuners mostly work best on/for GT's w/Automatic Trans?
I have a 14' GT Manual, what would/could these Tuners do for me??

The tuner device enables loading a different program into the engine control module to enhance performance (horsepower, torque, redline, etc.) and drivability of the engine, especially when different parts are installed. With an auto equipped car, there are a few more parameters (shift points, pressure, etc.) that can be altered in the programing.

Automatic 5.0

All I really want is firmer shifts. That is my only complaint with my new Mustang so far. I don't want to buy a tuner and a tune just for that.

Call your dealer and see if they would be willing to boost the pressure a little bit. I think they can do that without changing the tune.

Yea no that's not going to happen. Line pressure is controlled by the PCM.

2011 Kona Blue

I have an automatic 3.7 and have Steeda and Bama tunes. Both Steeda and Bama are amazing on shiffs and the firmness can be changed the same by either company. There both awesome.
