What's up with you guys, you don't like intake noise?
Or does it make bad noise on the 5.0?
I honestly don't know what I am hearing throught the sound tube on my 2010 4.6, but I love intake noise so would not want to get rid of it.

It's more about aesthetics. It doesn't look good in the engine bay. If you have exhaust you aren't going to be able to hear the sound tube so it is kind of pointless at that point.

I never really looked into this. What exactly does it do and how does it sound "better" without it. I have Roush axlebacks. I would like to do the mod if it will actually be better an be worth it.

What type of sound is it supposed to be? Engine noise into the cockpit for a more race like experience?
So most of u guys went with a kit or just a DIY pieced together solution?

Do you remember the moan of a wide-open four barrel carbeuretor on an old school big block? Back in the day when there was near zero sound insulation between the engine and the driver?
Well, that's the idea . . . in reallity it isn't anything like that , but that's what we're trying for.
They put in the sound tube in 2010 when they improved the cabin sound insulation to the point that you can't hear the engine any more. It goes to the intake so I guess it mostly brings in intake noise.
I don't know if I can really hear anything through that tube, but I like the idea of intake noise so I'm keeping mine!

DIY - approximately $10 and change and having to go to 2 stores and HOPE they have what you need.
Or
Kit - $14 shipped to your door with everything.
Seems like an easy choice.

It was. Common parts that are readily available and I didn't have to wait for UPS to get mine in.

I completely understand. I live in a town of about 200,000 people (not terribly small, all things considered) and sometimes I'm pissed to find that parts that I need or want are not in stock around me or the way people price things because they think they have the market cornered.

There's an advance not too far from me. Not my local auto part store but not far. Are there sizes for the firewall plug and the intake cap?
Is the cap just a standard rubber cap?

hytek what did you use for a cap for the intake? The par # listed is for Lowes and not AAP/autozone. I was looking to swing by there today. r what was the name of the equivalent at the auto store.

Bought these parts today. The Round Cap Plugs did not work for me. On the 2011 intake the hole is hard plastic not soft rubber. I was able to fab something together but I will have to go back to the hardware store and get the right parts. Guess I should have gotten the kit!
But the Master cylinder plug worked very well.
