Sound Tube Delete parts list

I have had trouble finding a list of parts that will work for the sound tube delete other than a bunch of posts about buying the parts online for $15 + shipping. Today I decided to run to advance auto parts and Lowe's while waiting on the family and found some parts that work.

Disclaimer: Currently I am running stock intake so the intake plug may not work for aftermarket intakes, but the firewall plug should work on every mustang.

The intake plug came courtesy of Lowes and is found in the specialty fasteners section. It is a 1&3/4 inch plug cap. Pics to follow.

The firewall plug came courtesy of advance auto parts and is a brake master cylinder gasket for ford vehicles, found with other brake rebuild parts.

I reused the stock hose clamp and a 10mm socket to remove the bolt that holds the sound tube on.

Great Post. Fabbed up a plug for the intake myself & bought the same master cylinder gasket you used for the firewall. Shopped around everywhere, but could not find a flush plug larger than 1". Got my firewall plug/master cyl. gasket @ Autozone.

Thanks! I've been looking for something to plug the firewall. In stock @ my local AAP for $6.19.

thanks guys. yeah, the firewall plug was 6.19 and advance had nothing close to the correct size for the intake, so i went to lowes and the intake plugs came in a set of 2 for 3.99.

No matter how you do it, the sound tube delete is a good choice. Couldn't be happier with the car since I got rid of it.

Does anyone have a vid of before and after from inside the car?

Just like YouTube doesnt properly represent exhausts, you would never be able to tell the differences in a YouTube vid without an extensive mic system.

This should be a sticky. Nice work.

Is there a significant difference having the tube out completely?

I had removed all the foam and the rubber gasket in it but I had left the tube connected and the sound was too... "Chambery" on high load. it sounded horrible so I put the rubber piece back in.

I don't have my GT anymore (RIP) but I am still interested in knowing. I know ford installed a similar item, a sound muffler, in the GT500 engine compartment but Ford racing offers a delete for that. I hope the 2013 does not have the muffler. I will be ripping it out. I want to hear that blower whine!

This^ Plus most forum members probably have aftermarket exhaust, which is most likely louder than the amount of noise the sound tube is sending.

I didnt notice any difference with the delete. But I have my side pipe restrictor plates out and GT500 axle backs so my exhaust is fairly loud

this is going to sound dumb so hold on.

cant you just clamp the tube and stop the noise?

you absolutely can do that and leave it there... a lot of ppl (including myself) don't like the way it looks under the hood also

SOund tube looks like a sore thumb in the engine compartment and serves no purpose .. that is why I got rid of mine!

Cool. Brand new to the boards here, and I already have a great idea for a first (and easy) mod!
