Let me tell you which catback kit to avoid!!!
I watched the YouTube video for the 2011 Heartthrob catback kit and was mightily impressed. I waited for it to go on sale and purchased it. I've done a lot of work on cars, installed engines, weld very well, etc so I had no doubts a friend and I could put this on my new 2011 GT in my driveway. The stock exhaust came off pretty easily. For the next 3 hours, we tried installing this bolt on kit with no luck.
The next week, I took the car to a muffler shop and asked him to try. He got it on the car but it is hitting the bottom of the trunk floor, almost rubbing the fuel tank on one side and 1/4" from the differential on the other. Then I'm handed a bill for $175. You can imagine how unhappy I am that my brand new car has a leak, hangs low in the center, and rubs on the car. The muffler guy says the reason I couldn't get the bolt on kit installed is because it simply doesn't fit.
He says he can build the same pipes from scratch and it will fit like a glove for $400. Heartthrob says they will send me another over the axle pipe. That isn't even much of an option because I'm not confident it will fit and I'll have to pay for more labor! I'm really unsure what to do. As of now, I have about $500 in this (parts and labor) and he wants me to drop another $400 to make it right.
Frustrated! Any thoughts on what you'd do?

Sorry to hear of your dilemma...I'd get a refund on the exhaust (if the 2nd one doesnt' fit)...I consider the labor you paid on the install a lost...I dont' think the company where you bought it from will re-imburse you since they didn't tell you to take it to a muffler shop for the install.

Thats too bad. I have the heartthrob cat to axle and while I too had some fitment issues, they were easily resolved (with use of a lift) and it fit on there just fine. I love the way mine sounds with the GT500 mufflers and I have had it on the car for about 800 miles with no problems. I am concerned that if I decide to lower the car that the over the axle pipe will hit something but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
That's unfortunate to hear. I installed the Heartthrob cat-to-axle h-pipe on my car in my driveway with roush axle backs and didn't have much trouble.
It was hitting the trunk floor on most bumps though. Took it to a muffler shop (good shop), and he was able to make minor adjustments and it no longer hits.
My only complaint about the kit is that I have had to deal with some exhaust leaks. I had the front most connection welded (right behind the cats). And replaced the clamps for the h-pipe with 3" band clamps (lap). Much better now.
For the price of the kit and the minor fixes I needed I can't complain at all. And the end result I'm very happy with.

find you another exhaust guy ,,if its on alredy all the hardwork is done a good tech can fix it n 2 hours tops and if he charges 50.00 an hour thats only 100.00 to fix it ,,most all thes bolt on kits are same ,,my pypes one was too ,,i fought it sometimes all night then off to work only to still not get it right and im a decent mechanic i think ,,so i gave up,,and hired an exhaust shop ,,i was paranoid caus i was afraid they would abuse project 500 horse (thats what i call my yellow blaze gt )but they did an excellent job ,,mine would eitheir rub floor pan of sparewell or would hit track bar ,,so i called summit ordered heartthrob cat deletes and paid exhaust man 125.00 bucks ,,he also installed some extra hangers strainless ones and dimpled those pypes near track bar ,,and it sounds wonderful ,,if an exhaust shop is wanting 400.00 bucks they are just mad because they missed your business or rippn ya off ,,mine was 125.00 and a burnout when i left ,,and it was worth it lol im tired of my elbows hurting,,a good tip if you are deleting cats is to hav a friend hold wrench or socket under car while u with a huge extension pop open hood and unbolt cats from top down ,,they are super tight but you can do it ..i did with a lil heat ,,u see in a lot of forums people cuting off one of bolts on passenger side cat ,,u dont gotta if u remove it with extension through engine bay!
