Anyone getting this? I'm debating between this and the Steeda.

dang...was hoping someone got one already. I'm real curious to how it feels. I'm tired of missing 3rd and want to upgrade soon. I like the Steeda, but that Hurst just looks plain out mean with the chrome handle visible.

I carry the Steeda, and I use it in my car too. And I sell it for less too. http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...203&ModelID=35
In fact I put together a kit that has the Tri-Ax, the shifter bracket and bushing, and Redline fluid for $50 more than just the Hurst. I've had Hursts, and I didn't much like them. I preferred the B&M Ripper in my Camaro, I hate the Hurst in the Shelby GT. But I love the Tri-Ax in my 5.0. It's got solid feel, I never miss shifts, the throws aren't too short. Just a great piece all around. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't use it. I'm not married to certain brands, I use what works. Not everything Steeda has I like. This, I like.
BTW, the kit: http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...203&PartID=825

the Hurst has a 37% throw reduction and gets rid of the "push down" that is required for reverse on the other shifters. I personally have heard several complaints on the Steeda with missed shifts and the guy with a Barton at one of the NMRA meets that thought his car was in first at the starting line when it fact it was in reverse when he launched... they are all competitively priced so its really what you like

Wow that's excellent! Looks like a stout piece! Anxious to see how it works! I will be in your neck of the woods next Thursday and Friday. Going to Champaign Il to bring my kids back from their summer vacation with me. Figured it would be a good road trip for the Mustang and I havent been up there to see where they live yet.

As soon as we install them we'll do a write up.

Anyone can miss a shift with any shifter. Sequential boxes sometimes don't get the next gear all the time. I haven't missed any shifts, I'm very happy with the Tri-Ax. And I not only go up gears hard, but I downshift hard too. I heel and toe, and at ProSolo's I stage in 1st, hit reverse to back out of the stage beam at the tree, back to first to get right on the edge.... all that in less than 20 seconds. I don't want to be fighting with a crappy shifter, now when winning and losing can come down to literally milliseconds. I've won 3 National Championships by .017, .029, and .090. Flubbing around isn't very good when the margins are that small.

I have the Steeda shifter and UPR bracket. Steeda says a 20% throw reduction with their shifter, which i think is the safest you can go with the MT82.
