Boss intake and gears

I'm looking for my next up grades and was wondering if the boss intake is really worth it and if I need new gears. I currently have 3.31 in my 6mt.

Upgrade list so far
JLT intake
Bama tunes
O/R H pipe
Flowmaster
Hurst shifter
295 nitto's on the back

My problem is losing at higher speeds. I don't get beat till I shift to 4th. 1-3 I do pretty good.

I ran a 12.9 all stock on stock tires so I felt like the gearing was pretty good. But don't have alot of experience with gearing.

I'm kind of on the fence about the Boss intake as well. I have 3.73s, o/r H pipe and Steeda CAI with the Bama 93r tune. Anyone that has had this mod for a while care to chime in?

People ***** about loss of torque from some dyno graphs but allot of people who have installed the Boss 302 love it. I am going to be adding the Boss 302 with Kooks 1 -3/4 headers, off road x-pipe and L&M throttle body with a Circle D 3000-3200 stall there is know way in hell with a setup like that in my opinion will you feel the bottom end loss in torque.

I have so much trouble with traction anyways I think the slight loss of torque could possibly be beneficial. But with that being said I just got off my stock rubber. My nitto's stick alot better but first still has to be feathered for traction. But the winter weather doesn't help either. So I need a little more drive time on the new tires. I was thinking 3.55 so I wouldn't lose my new found traction but get alittle more pull.

I have the boss mani and love it! 4500rpm and up pulls like a beast. With 3.73's I don't feel any loss at all. I'm full bolt on w/ steeda race tune and can only get into the car 1/2 throttle and she still breaks lose. Need drag radials this is what my set up is capable of runnin with DR's.

I run the Boss with 4.10 gears. Zero traction in 1st and 2nd. Main mods are Airaid intake, Boss manifold, 4.10's, o/r X-pipe and Bama 91 race tune. I plan on going with water injection to help with the heat here in NC. The other day I went 3/4 throttle at low rpm in 2nd and when it got up to around 4500 rpm it started breaking the tires loose.

Traction is a problem for me to but good DR's will make the difference. Also a good clutch will help. I will be upgrading when the funds are available for a ram clutch

Traction is why I worry about changing the gears. I'm probably gonna check my times after the intake and run a few people around here and go from there. The gears will be the last mod.

I just got my ride last week and it's already a beast. Plan to get exhaust at tax time for now. I've been debating on pursuing the boss intake with cai or the eldbrock supercharger later. Not thinking i need the power the supercharger provides but the sound of them online is amazing. I dont really raw hide my car and want to keep it till i'm dead, paint every 10 years yah know. Petty much a 10-90mph kinda guy getting on the freeway and then drive normal is all i do. So the thoughts i would like are will the super shorten the life of my car or you think boss, cai, and cold air intake would be better choice?

Eldebroc claims low boost of 6psi to insure reliability. Is that load of crap and my car be in the shop every 6 months.

Your not going to hear a TVS supercharger whine at low boost. The Eldbrock and Roush both use the TVS supercharger. The Roush is mounted normal and the Eldelbrock is upside down with a different inlet configuration.
How much power are you looking for and how much $$ is in your budget?

Losing at higher speed is lack of HP. The Boss intake, headers and dyno tune would help.
Beware that the Hurst shifter doesn't have reverse lock out. And uses a light to tell you when your in reverse.

What are you doing in the way of suspension to handle these performance upgrades and what is your end goals with these mods? Do you want to track it, go in straight lines, street race, or daily it with no other prospects? You can't have a ton of power without better controlling that power on the ground.. Just a thought.

The Boss intake makes it a rev happy engine. I rarely shift below 3k. I think a higher ratio than 3.31 (it's what I had to began with) would be a good fit with the Boss intake. I got the 4.10 gears before the intake and I did notice a loss of low torque after I installed the Boss. Before it would spin the tires if I coughed and get it sideways in 3rd. The Boss with the 4.10's made it more drivable I thought. One mod at a time lets you know what you like or dislike and learn. I like the 4.10's but could maybe live better with 3.73's.
