Aluminum drive shaft, anyone?
It seems like the 4.6L guys are more interested in a driveshaft upgrade than the 5.0 guys...
Still, lighter weight, less rotating mass, stronger, etc... sounds like a great mod.
Has anyone installed one yet? Is it worth the hefty price tag?

It's cause we're trying to keep up with y'all!
I got the Shaftmasters, great quality, great name (they send you a T shirt, don't know if I'd ever wear it, but the wife in it is rather funny). Immediate, noticeable difference from the first take off.
Cheaper than the Dynatech, too, $625:

I dont have one in my 2012 but i did in my 2006 GT ... dont know how effective it was since i did it at the same time as a gear change to 4:10s...but, i can tell you that it will be louder (NVH-wise) inside the cabin.

I haven't noticed that at all. Theoretically it should be quieter, has one less bearing and connection to the car, and its connections are damped through the rear end and engine bushings.

From a technology perspective if you study the stock 2 piece unit you can appreciate the thought that went into it's design...two unequal length pieces w/isolators ~ midway through it's length...well designed for resonate frequency mitigation. And noise loves to travel down long straight pipes, like a 1 piece unit! However, the 2 piece is also a heavy beast....which is why i chunked it for the 1 piece! . I'm sure it helped, but man, the switch to 4:10s really made for a different driving experience (I had 3:55s stock) so i couldnt tell how much the driveshaft (alone) contributed. I know this...i could spin up my tires 'really fast'

Check out the PST drive shaft a smarter design. They are made in aluminum and carbon.

I would like to get one. We put one on my buddies 5.0 and it was feather weight. After the suspension mods I am doing Clutch, Flywheel, Aluminum Driveshaft and Safety loop. Are any 5.0 K-members available? Will the BBR K-Member work with different motor mounts?

I plan on getting one eventually, but it's one of those staged mods because I probably plan on swapping the trans when I go FI. I know the MT82 has held up in FI situations I just don't like it barely being rated high enough for stock torque on the 5.0. So yea, tranny and 1 piece drive shaft at some point, but not for a few years.
