You might as well call a Mazda6 a Mustang in that case, cause they are built on the same line by the same equipment...

They aren't refered to Mods anymore...hell as a 5L engine I wouldn't want to be associated with that name either

Hey I didn't say that... but they aren't exactly spring chickens.

Could you imagine a 5.4L built with the same durability but all the new tech in the 5L line?
I pooped a lil....

Why? Because Ford applied Henry's "assembly line mindset" to re-tooling for different models?

Contrary to popular belief, the Modular engine did not get its name from its design or sharing of certain parts among the engine family. Instead, the name was derived from a manufacturing plant protocol, "Modular", where the plant and its tooling could be changed out in a matter of hours to manufacture different versions of the engine family.

Dunno. The blown 5.4L 4v has 8.4:1 compression and 9 PSI. The blower is worth around 150HP at the most being an Eaton and the compression. The motor alone is worth 400HP. It does this with no VCT whatsoever. If it were 11:1 like the 5.0, it'd be at least 435. It has the knock sensors already. The Ti-VCT is neat but doesn't make quite the difference I had hoped after seeing the 5.0 torque curve. Remember the 5.4 in 2000 via the Cobra R was already at 385HP. The Ford GT heads, while flowing 4% less on the intake than the 5.0 heads, flow 20% better on the exhaust. I honestly prefer the 5.4L 4v in the SVT model. The 5.0 however is perfect for the GT.

I think the setup for the GT is great as well. Its a high-er... revving and breathing V8.
The SE will be better... and then
We'll start to see what its more capable of with future with the aussie version.
(I hope we get some form of this engine)

but the 5.4 ain't done yet everyone sure they want a 2011 GT500?

When the 5.4 is dropped, I do want a larger version of the 5.0. I like the overkill package that SVT started with the GT500 in 07.

The 2000 Cobra R was underrated and most likly put out over 400hp, but the car was rated at mpg 13 city and 18 hwy, under the old system, according to the epa website, in todays method it would get 12 city 17 hwy.

You can make power lots of different ways, there were plenty cars in the 60's that had tons of hp. But the 5.0 is about efficency, the Ti-VCT is one thing that helps give you tons of power without the drawback of mileage.

The blown 5.4L is 15/23 for 2011. 3mpg under the 5.0 highway, and just 2 city, thats with 200lbs more weight to pull and a blower to turn! Not to mention low compression which sucks for mileage!

The 5.4L 4v has a lot of life left in it now that I think about it.

so the GT500 will pretty much be the only Ford still using a 5.4L at all after 2011..

Yep. It is on the niche line though, and uses unique parts so it doesn't cost them anymore to keep it running while shutting down the regular Triton manufacturing...

I got to see the two people who built my motor on the niche line. It was cool to see who I was helping keep employed. I had two women build my engine. Good thing I opted for the extended warranty.

DRIFTING: Driver wins Formula Drift series opener, his first win in Long Beach.
By Robert Morales, Staff Writer
Posted: 04/11/2010 12:45:35 AM PDT
LONG BEACH - Vaughn Gittin Jr. spun donuts, sending smoke into the air while sticking his left arm out of his 2011 Mustang and pumping his fist in celebration.
"The key to winning was having Falken tires, an amazing new Ford Mustang and a great team," he said. "Aside from that, consistency, confidence and not being scared to take a risk and we had all of it. This event we showed up with a full package and, you know, it's been a long time coming.
