Vaughn Gittin JR and His 2011 Ford Mustang GT Are Ready to Rock
.....But the car was the star on this night and the center of attention was Vaughn Gittin JR’s 2011 Monster Energy Falken Tire Ford Mustang GT. Much like Vaughn’s 2010 Mustang, which he campaigned last year and will be driven by Justin Pawlak this season, this car was built by ASD Motorsports. This Charlotte-based motorsports shop is responsible for all of Falken’s drift cars.
According to Vaughn, “ASD is unbelievable. This [2011 Mustang] is probably one of the most engineered, well-built drift cars of 2010. We learned a lot from the old car.”
Some of those lessons must have been in weight reduction as the ‘Stang’s feathery 2,600lb weight can partially be attributed to the full carbon fiber body. The ASD crew also managed to move four percent of the weight to the back of the car.
The powerplant is a 5.0L Ford Racing supercharged V-8 laying down some 680hp.

Look at the cam covers and idlers. That is a modular 5.4. 80% sure. Let me look at a 5.0 real quick.

Totally different engine. I vote 5.4 mod. The motor in that car doesn't even have the Ti-VCT connections on the forward cam covers. It isn't a cammer either.

Cammer. I'm pretty sure they used the same setup last season too.
The provisions are all wrong for a cammer, but of course it's custom as hell.
The supercharger belt routing and idlers are pure mod 5.4. The timing cover is NOT what comes with the cammer. Here it is:

It be a cammer with some mod 5.4 parts. Weird.

Edit for my post above, they used the Aluminator last season, and those cam covers look like the ones on it. Maybe they made a misprint with the new 5.0 coming out, or they stroked the Aluminator.

True. If they did they would promote it like they did the Boss 302R.
