New Shelby Coming Monday Night!

The center exhaust and retro ducktail just looked odd in that pic, and I'm not crazy about the rear quarter windows being replaced/covered with solid white panels. I hate to say it, but the only two things in that pic I cared for were the ride height and the classic white with blue stripes color combo.

Wow there are some really dumb comments in this thread. I'm guessing many of them are coming from the guys that wish they could own a Shelby, but can't due to pricing and not realizing why they are priced like they are. I owned both a 2006 Mustang GT and then a 2008 GT500. The GT500 is a far better car. I wish I would have bought one before dumping all the money I did on my 2006. Sure the SGT wasn't the best value in the world but people still bought it and they love them. To some people the Shelby name is worth the price. IMO Carroll Shelby has done more for the Mustang brand than just about anyone else. That's not knocking people like Parnelli Jones or Saleen or Roush or even Steve McQueen. But if you look back at what Shelby has done for the Mustang brand, I'd love to hear of someone who has done more. The new GT500 is amazing and fit and finish is great. If you don't like what the new Shelby is then don't buy it. Don't ***** about the price, just move on. If I had my choice it'd be a modern interpretation of a GT350R. That would be a car much like the new Boss 302R. Though I would prefer it to be street legal. I know what I want and what everyone else wants isn't always gonna align, but you guys are simply just whining. If you don't like it don't buy it. But don't knock Shelby. Also don't for a minute say that Shelby ruined SVT. The SVT brand would likely be dead if not for the Shelby brand name. Also many of you need to realize that it's not Carroll Shelby getting rich here or trying to line his pockets the man is 87 years old and in poor health. He's not a huge part of the day to day operations at SAI. Test have shown that to put an IRS in the Mustang would raise the price quite a bit, you gonna complain about that? Also, test have shown that an IRS isn't going to improve how the car handles. You want a working man's mustang buy a V6 and do a motor swap. There's your working man's car. I could go on, but I'm sure I'm just gonna get flamed for what I've said already.

Between what I saw in that pic, and that hideous price, there's no way in he'll I'd buy one of these over the current GT500, let alone any updated GT500s that are coming.

Shelby Automotive is a tuner, and like all tuners, the cars are well over what the base cars are worth.
Will they be worth something in the future? its up to the future buyers.
This GT350 is more true Shelby in that the GT500 is essentially just a rebaged-top of the food chain Mustang Cobra, and I'm cool with that. The GT350 is a high priced, low volume, Shelby automotive vehicle.
Also, the IRS... was cost.
The spin on it (like most things...see even DI on the 5L) is due to cost.
Did the benefits outweigh the cost?
Ford says no, and therefore we got a SRA.

WTH tradition? What are you referring to? Big deal if you think S197 Bullitt > S197 Shelby GT, S197 GT500 > All. I don't understand the argument of the Bullitt vs. Shelby GT anyway. The Bullitt could have been one of the best modern representations of an iconic Mustang and it failed horribly. It's not much more than a Highland Green California Special.

So many argue about the weight of modern Mustangs anyway, you think an IRS if gonna lighten things up?

and the SGT is nothing more than an over priced GT with over priced bolt-ons and a riveted hood scoop that my 4 yr old nephew could have riveted on better.

I'm not defending the SGT, sure it was overpriced and the hood was crap, and for that reason you probably didn't buy one, so why ***** about it? Just because someone brings something to the market doesn't mean you're have to buy it, but no point in *****ing about it either.

You like shelby fine..some don't, you can praise others can *****. It's called free speech.
And I for one can tell you that Even if i had the cash I would not ever buy a Shelby anything (Last gen GT500 is the only one that may get a pass) It's just a rebadged Cobra. If it was given to me, all Shelby logos badges and what not would be stripped off it and sold on ebay.
Personally I think the fit and finish coming out of SMS and Roush and Saleen etc is far superior to any of Shelbys tuner cars. Yes I've seen both and compared them side by side.
As for SVT being dead if shelby hadn't come along...two words get real.
The one and only reason his name is on the GT500 is... can you guess??? It's Marketing, that is it. And hats off to Ford because it worked like gang busters. But this is an old argument and I'm tired of it.

SVT wasn't dying a Ford was going to cut funding on it before the GT500.
