Hey bud, congrats on the new addition!! Glad the info I posted helped you out. I would definitely tape up the car. Those pics that Eric posted were of the tape job I did driving it back from the dealer who had it. It made the trip home alot more relaxing!!!

I no doubt will be taping my car up, cant wait to see whats the TSA at the airport says seeing 5 rolls of tape in my bag. 2 to pay jeff back for what he used and 3 to tape mine up hardcore. I want to do everything he did as well as rockers and rear lower quarters. HOPEFULLY the weather will co-operate otherwise its going on a enclosed transport.
I am so excited im ready to freak out, my wife said if she hears the words Shelby one more time its going to get ugly.

Be careful on those tires in the cold until you get used to how it responds. Even in the 50's here mine will bite you in the *** really quick and unexpectedly when you're on the loud pedal.

Thanks again, Jeff. If I hadn't seen your post I wouldn't have even considered a Shelby since they were out of my price range. My wife is also much happier we are going this route over the 2013 Boss. She has to have her leather.

I may talk to my dealer about whether he knows a clear bra pro in Dallas who can put it on for me...

I think a couple of layers of painters tape would be easier logistically, then I am sure I can find someone in SoCal to do it for me once I get home. I don't know.

Hey bud, the painters tape will work perfectly for the ride home. Just make sure its smooth and flat on the car. It won't lift if it is. As for the clear bra. Do you live near any exotic car dealerships (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maserati)? Even a Porsche store would work. If so, give them a call and ask for the service manager. He probably has on his contact list a person who installs clear bras on their cars. I know a few Porsche stores near me offer a clear bra on their cars as a dealer installed option. Give one of those stores a call if you have one local to you.

I just got back from my road trip to Dallas. I traded in my STI on the kona blue w\red stripes in Forkmachines post. I left early Friday morning and got back early last night. 2600 miles in 60 hours. Great fun!

I should thank Forkmachine for posting those cars and also thank Jeff for this thread and his help. Jeff, I'll stop by and buy you lunch when I'm in PA. Forkmachine , if you ever find yourself at Continental Tire Sportcar Challenge race, please stop by the Subaru Racing Team truck and have lunch with the team.

Mark,

That's awesome, congrats on the new car! I am glad to have assisted.

Too bad we got rid of our DirecTV to help with Shelby payments. Now we have to find somewhere else to watch the races we can't go to. If my wife and I are able to go the races at Laguna Seca again this year we will definitely have to take you up on lunch with the team. We talked about maybe going to the one Miller Motorsports Park too. It will be much more fitting for us to drive our new Shelby to the races than some lame Fusion hybrid.

We've been keeping an eye on Team Subaru. Hopefully we will see you guys catch a podium this year. I hope the team doesn't hold trading the STI in on a Ford against you.

I am also wavering. Found two of the exact 2012 GT500 with 50 miles and with the almost a steal deal right now I find myself wanting to go pick one up.
I am weary about 2013 pricing and I am having a REALLY hard time waiting just to find out the car might be out of financial reach.

Consider yourself lucky. Those of us waiting on the '13 GT500 may be waiting for as much as SIX months. Ugh.

I guess it is probably better even than waiting for a 2013 Boss like I was originally planning. I probably wouldn't have had that until the summer at the earliest.

My wife would kill me for saying this but if you need a ride from the airport somewhere, let me know. I can park at DFW for free. If not its no big deal. I live in Dallas and work in Fort Worth so out of the way isn't much in my vocabulary. Just hope you don't mind being in a Civic though, my Bimmer doesn't have the right plates.

As long as you aren't some kind of serial killer or lady boy I think we are ok.

With the new 2012 GT500's going for under invoice (x-plan - $2500 rebate) and the major changes for 2013, what is the current market for used 2012's? Certainly it is below what you can buy a new one for but how much lower?

Could be one of the best car purchase values out there now.

You are absolutely right. Actually, 5.0 Brian has a used one we were strongly considering (though not really used at all - it has less miles on it than the "new" one I am buying). It was actually priced the about same as the one we are getting but it didn't have the EP and ours does. I am sure it is because that $2500 isn't available to them for the used one.

Thank you very much for the offer! Unfortunately, I am both of those, so out of respect for you I will need to catch a taxi to my hotel.

Actually, it's just a really late flight.
