Camaro ZL1 Chief Engineer says "You're Welcome" to Ford Mustang fans

The letter is a matter of perspective. The GM exec wants to stir up some brand loyalty and make it sound like this is all new. Let's look at some facts, shall we?
- Coyote was in development before the Camaro production run began.
- GT500 in turn spurred the development of the ZL1
- My favorite: The ZL1 was intended to be a Z/28, but a few days prior to the NYIAS it was changed because of the Boss 302 reviews that started rolling out. Talk about response to a situation.
Bottom line, I'm happy to see two high powered, technologically advanced cars from American companies available in the times of increased fuel economy regulations and legislation. I can't wait to see a balanced test between the two.

These are the kind of people that make a thread when the mustang has a TSB or issue with something, but when their own cars breaks outputs shafts and has cheap paint they leave it at "every car has problems" lol
the gm kool-aid must have crack in it.

Regardless of views or perspectives it is undignified for anyone up the food chain to trash talk. Besides, if one is on top there is no need to be looking on who is behind. Why give the inferior so much attention?

I sure am thankfull to Ford for producing a 650 horespower GT500. I am going to finally get the Mustang I was hoping for. So far the only thing I would want are the hood vents on the 5.0 GT. Maybe the 2014 GT500 will have the same hood vents as the 2013 GT. Then I would have a good excuse to trade in the 2013 GT500.
Ford has been focusing on upping its game the whole time because Ford recognizes it has to please its loyal base - with or without the other (bailout) boys.

Nice to the the competition between Ford and Chevy in full swing. I just don't see the ZL1 being faster in any test and the fact that they are bringing up things like how you have to purchase additional features for the track is kind of weak. Ive been to summit point and VIR a couple times and never seen a camaro.
You're right about the competition...it's great to see...heck, even Dodge release a new Challenger to better compete with the Camaro and Mustang (Challenger SRT8 392). But after reading this guy's statement in full, I think he is being a little disingenuous. I allowed all my magazine subscriptions to expire...now I need to reup and get them going again :-)
I'm a blue oval guy, but even I will admit there is some truth in his words. Of course he has said it in a over the top manner that makes him look like a tool.
The fact is, the Mustang is better because the Camaro is back in the race. Has it been playing catch up to the Camero? Hardly, but the bow-tie boys have to have something to feel good about at night; I'm certain that GT500 is in their nightmares.

He is definitely being disingenuous, and i did see that SRT8 392...the Challenger ACR is kind of sexy but i have grown way to fond of cars that handle great over speed to buy one. Guess we will see a ZL1 V.S. GT500 Comparo soon enough until then i cant wait.
Maybe by "catch up" he meant the mustang went extinct and then came back to catch up to the camaro that was selling tons of aweaome cars..........oh wait, i have that backwards! wake up GM!
