Camaro ZL1 Chief Engineer says "You're Welcome" to Ford Mustang fans
I guess I don't understand the whole, "Ford is trying to play catch-up" mindset among the fifth-generation Camaro contingent. Do they not realize their car wouldn't exist if not for the success of the 2005+ Mustang? Do they not realize it was the Camaro, and not the Mustang, that returned in 2010 after an eight-year hiatus? Do they not realize the Camaro ZL1 is in response to the Mustang GT500, a car that, in its modern iteration, was released in MY 2007; Ford has upgraded the car -- its engine, its suspension, etc -- multiple times, too, since, devoid of any real direct competition (heck, the ZL1 still isn't officially out).
Also, a letter to Camaro owners? Really? Let your car do the talking; making excuses just seems, well, pathetic to me.

It might have already been noted but if Ford is playing catch up then can someone answer a simple question for me.
Who released their current turnkey track car first? Is the new camaro supposed to be on the track with the Boss or on the street with the GT500?
Sincerely,
Confused

That letter has to be the result of hundreds of GM dealers hitting the panic button over all the cancelled ZL1 orders. LOL
I'll bet GM's switchboard was lit up all day long.
The letter is delusional to say the least, as others have mentioned.....how can Ford be playing catch-up when they started the race 4 years before GM crept out of the starting blocks?
The competition is good for fans of both auto makers. Everyone gets the best cars each maker can produce.

Why? I think people want options. I think most would opt for the Performace Pack but the Track Pack seems most suited for those who are going to track their cars HARD.
Some might just want the base car because they want the top Stang but know they will never push the car to it's limits. You don't need all those features if you just drive the car to work, hit the freeway and let it rip a little down a quiet road.

. If it's a halo car, it better have the best performance parts from the factory on it from the get-go. Leave only appearance/styling options available for the buyer. And now for some fanboi silliness
