I don't think so. If it does, I've never seen mine do it.

Talking

I sure would hate to drive a car with the skip shift transmission. The 5.0 liter GT uses skip shift, but the GT500 does not. Hopefully, the 2013 GT500 will not have skip shift.
Really, does anyone want skip shift ? I would rather pay a gas guzzler tax !

Does anybody know if Ford is going to give the GT500 some kind of launch control? I mean if the GM engineers can give 6-speed camaro's and corvette's launch control, why can't ford engineers figure out how to do it?

In the scheme of things, GT500's don't really impact Ford's CAFE to much, but the GG tax might be a deal breaker for some and then there is the stigma of being a gas guzzler. The Excursion is a good example of the latter. It had gained a rep for being a an absolute behemouth (cant remeber if the Excursion was slighly bigger or smaller than the comparable Suburban) and its reputation as a monster helped to hurt sales.

Besides, skipshift seems to be easy to defeat (maybe even defeatable with a tune) and/or your driving habits might make it invisible as well.

If you're talking about what comes with the red key for Boss Mustangs is not a true launch control.

There was a video with a ford engineer explaing about that red key where you can set your launch rpm with it but he didnt say anything about the computer controlling the throttle or timing to keep you from roasting your tires once you've released the clutch.

So it acts the same as most other cars, like the Corvette and Camaro. Were you expecting something like the GT-R has?

I dont know about the camaro, but the corvette helps by adjusting fuel and timing after you've released the clutch to minimize wheel spin, which would definitely help when we're talking about this much power (600+ hp).

This on the Boss and CobraJet:

vs. this on the ZR1:
Performance Traction Management

Performance Traction Management (PTM) technology is an advanced system that is part of the ZR1’s Launch Control feature, which optimizes traction for greater and more consistent on-track performance.

The PTM system holds a predetermined engine speed while the driver pushes the throttle to the floor. That allows the driver to quickly release the clutch and the system modulates engine torque 100 times per second to maximize the available traction. The system is capable of approaching a skilled driver’s best effort and repeats it consistently.

PTM also integrates the ZR1’s traction control, active handling and selective ride control systems to enhance race track driving consistency and overall performance. When full throttle is applied upon exiting a corner, it automatically manages acceleration dynamics.
