2013 GT500 Leaked Info

Needs to be more Astony
Wow, I think we went off track. Do I agree with Ford using the Shelby name...no. But it is what it is.
Not to offend anyone but the 03-04 cobras had more unique changes then the 07 shelbys yet they cost a lot less. I would have to say that some of that has to do with paying shelby or trying to charge extra because of the name.
That does more for the car collector than the car enthusiust.
But don't get me wrong the 2011-12 GT500 with SVTPP is the best all around Mustang that Ford has ever built.
edit: I wish Ford spent more time honoring the men behind it SVT then the guys name on the back that made some cars in the 60's

Car collecting is dead these days. I agree with everything you said. This did not start as a Cobra vs GT500 argument. Some of us got a little upset when we were told we were "wrong" about wanting an SVT Cobra over the Shelby name and how it does add cost to an otherwise great car. I remember when the 2007 GT500s came out some nut jobs were paying $25000 ADMs on them when all the GT500 was really just the next gen SVT Cobra. Take a look at the market now. All these future "collectibles" are flooding the market. Cars that are 3-4 years old with under 10,000mi are everywhere and selling cheap!
Some may say that the Boss 302 may take the crown as the best performance Mustang, lets wait this Summer and see what they can do. I'll admit I do like the look and comfort of the GT500 more than the Boss but Shelby's name has nothing to do with it.

This is what I get out of that spy photo.
The lower side air dams have fog lights in them still you can see the round bezel shape under the tape. Of course this is speculation but I am saying the holes in the grill are twin intakes for the twin turbos.
Has a very agressive carbon fiber splitter on the bottom. Obviously has hood venting on each side of the dome.

I am so used to hearing the name Shelby GT500 that I would miss it if it disappeared from the Mustang model lineup. The Shelby GT500 has become a modern day icon. If the photo of the mule is of the 2013 Mustang, I hope there are more changes coming than just a new grill.

What do you guys think Ford can use from the Boss 302/ Boss 302 SC to make the GT500 a better car? Seems like power sure isn't a problem... Maybe give us a track key like the Boss with a different tune, optional side exhaust would be cool too.

Ford should flare out the rear fenders of the GT500 to allow wider wheels and tires. Replace the heavy two piece driveshaft with a one piece aluminum driveshaft. Side exhaust would be a nice option. Gives us the rear seat delete with the x-brace. Give us a track key and a strip key. The Strip key would trigger a good dragstrip tune.

What if they offered the LS gauge pack as an option for GT500 owners? If the gauge cluster ever gets the small LCD screen (a la the F150/SD) between the gauges, it might end up being there.

Could Grabber Green be a 2013 GT500 color like on the Boss?

Looks good on the '07-'09 body

Wider tires will fit under the current fenders. In another forum I just got through looking at a set of 345/35/18 Mickey Thompson's on 11" wide wheels on the back of a Shelby and 285 series tires on the front on 9.5" wheels. No clearance issues and it was lowered with the FRPP suspension.
Ford just has to WANT to put bigger tires on there...

I guess a perfect example would be the 2010 GT hot on the heals of the 08-09 Bullitt. Personally I'd like to see the Boss engine or at least some of it's components make it's way into the GT for the next gen car.
The Boss intake alone would be a solid upgrade to the GT.

transmission
Thanks for helping me see what the next Shelby's will be like and all the hate also. Now the man said a transmission to match the engine, that is a real clue. What could that be? A powershift like on my Focus? New ratios? A new 6060? What would help avoid a GG tax on a 620 HP V8? 620 will be hard to say no to GG tax or not.

What I think they should go with if you look at this kind of power is a form of lauch control and maybe something like Nissan's rev-synching tech where the car perfectly downshifts... Though I like rowing my own gears the supercars of the future are DSG, maybe Ford may offer other transmission options for the GT500.

good idea
That is a rely good idea, but the boosted one did not say a key to match the engine he said a transmission to match the engine. Tell us this is more than a skip shift please.
