Although it's hard to tell from the pic, it doesn't look like those are the Supercar G2 tires that are stock on those wheels.

[QUOTE=94gt;6040660]Those tires look massive. I don't think those are 20in 285's on the SVT model.[/QUOTE

It's about time the Shelby gets some wider tires out back. It's definately gonna be a beast.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Too many tread grooves. The G:2 really only has one distinct groove, running down the center....

I believe those are NT05's or Invo's from Nitto on that car.

Hmmm maybe not..I see 3grooves there, and I know the INvo runs 2 on theirs...not sure on the NT05 maybe they are Conti's Summer ? They make a 315 size tire...

If Ford is going to change the design a little in the 2013 Mustang, I would think they would be altering the fenders to allow a much wider tire than they currently use. Hopefully they will bore and stroke that 5.4 to 5.8 liters. I will be looking to get one then.

I think Ford has the technology to produce a 5.8 liter modular engine that will get good enough gas mileage to keep us from paying too high of a gas guzzler tax. I would certainly still buy a GT500 if I had to pay a resonable gas guzzler tax.

I don't think the '13 is going to have the GG tax.

Would you agree if it has a 351, it will have the GG?

No Ricky Bobby, I think that even with the rumored 5.8, it won't carry a GG tax. The last thing I would expect (and I may be wrong) is for Ford to bring some behemoth engine out, and nail people with the GG tax. They proved that they can make major power and not require it, so apply that to the new engine and see where it goes. Couple that with a transmission designed for the motor, and you should be able to avoid it.

Let's think about this the 2010 5.4 GG 2011 they stretch and gain one mile on the mpg to clear the GG, add larger motor and not get back the GG. I'm thinking that would be a Christmas miracle.

If they add Ti-VCT to the motor, keep the weight gain to a minimum, and make adjustments to the transmission as needed, they could still avoid the GG by a narrow margin.

The other thing to look at is the ZL1. If it gets a GG, we might still see one on the SVT model. If not, then I expect them to try and avoid it as much as possible.

Need something a little more potent, like Chuck Norris tears or Charlie Sheen's tiger blood.

Certainly, a modest increase in displcement (we are talking 21 cubic inches here) doesn't mean it will fall into the GG zone. I dont know how well TiVCT works with forced induction (it seems like it would work pretty good) but that alone could add some pretty good gains off boost since VCT can reduce pumping losses - its something the coyote and even the 3v 4.6 had over the 5.4 SC.

Even adopting the coyote's fuel injection strategy could allow leaner A/F ratios since it mimics direct injection and one of the benefits of doing so is the increased cooling in the combustion chamber allowing higher compression or leaner fuel mixtures or a combination of both.

More power and torque as you suggest might allow juggling the trans and final drive ratios to offset the power increase.

Does the current GT500 has the stupid skip shift like the GT? I have a bad feeling Ford may add this if it doesn't already have it to help with MPG numbers.
