2013 GT500 Leaked Info
Yeah, I think whatever, technically speaking, the actual model year might be, the release date of the 50th anniversary will be April 2014. Hopefully that will be the next model Mustang (technically a 2015? Was the 1964.5 technically a '64 or '65 model?) and not just a primped up version of the current model.
I mean, you're seeing "2012" Bosses hitting the streets in March of 2011, so a 2015 Stang hitting the streets in April 2014 to great fanfare would hardly be out of the question. Auto manufacturers tend to play fast and loose with model year designations.
However, development delays and overruns being what they are, some 50th anniversary Stang will be let out of the paddock in April 2014.
Aaaaaand, as for the GT 500, remember that, if it's a 2014 that hits the streets in 2013, I might expect a punched out 5.4/5.8 as the current run's swan song. If indeed it comes online as part of the NextStang rollout in April '14, then I would doubt the current Mod motor still soldiering on, though, possibly, it might be a holdover much as the 5.0 did for the '93 Stang release, being replaced by the newer 4.6 in '94 if I've got my dates right.

.The 5.0 ran through the 93 until the 95MY. the 4.6 didn't show up until '96 MY (two years after the restyle.)
I think this is what Ford is basing it off of. That would make their numbering correct...maybe that is confusing for some to think about. It is cool though. I hope the 2013 gt500 is faster and cheaper! Take that!
2013MY...new haircut, clothes, shoes..that kinda thing.
2015MY...plastic surgery, sex change...that kinda thing
50th

whatever the case the 2014 will be the 50th anniversary model.
Where are you guys getting your information? It makes no sense for Ford to change the pattern they have been on. Even though the 64 1/2s were all listes as 1965 Ford has been recognizing 64 as the start year for the Mustang.
Why would Ford do 35th in 1999 40th in 2004 and 45th in 2009 and then all of a sudden make the 2015 model a 50th anniversary instead of 2014?
