Well the engine is now at the machine shop and will be ready next Thursday. Kurtis found out i DID NOT blow my engine like previously thought. Cylinders 7 & 8 had worn out rings. Tons of blow by. In the end, I guess the good news is that the block is safe and has no scoring or damage. The blow by was just going to get worse anyway, oh well. We decided on the Comp Stage 3 cams per Temenski's recommendation. Temenski built a procharged 3 valve that made over 600 rwhp with the STage 1 Comp cams...

I thought he scoped the cylinder and saw a hole in the piston?

Sounds like you got taken to the cleaner Jeff. I guess the end result will be great but sounds like it was premature.

The rings can get worn out by the forced induction from what I had read. (Heavy blow by) As to being taken to the cleaners...it may have been somewhat premature but a 2 year old car shouldn't be using 2 and 1/2 quarts of oil between oil changes. It would have progressed to the point of 4-5 quarts and that would have been terrible. It would have been a smoking dragon and was on its way.

He looked down in the chamber and saw what he thought was a damaged ring, not a hole in the piston. I don't think he intentionally mislead me if that was what you were hinting at. Without taking the engine down to the piston we would never have known for sure anyway. The results should more than make up for my frustration...I hope...

How do you see a damaged ring that is sandwiched between the cylinder wall and the piston skirt?

hmm I guess your car is just a rarity.... Ive done my homework on FI and have spoke to many people with 10kmiles with the supercharger on and even at 20k with a stock bottom end...said they have had zero problems and have been down the 1/4 mile more times than they can remember... its just weird that yours was losing that much oil in such a short period of time. And you say its common for FI cars to do this.... I honeslty in all my reading and speaking to FI guys have not heard of them running into this issue with frequency... not meaning anything negative...just brainstorming as to what caused this...so that I can avoid it when it comes time to purchased a supercharger or turbo. Are there any threads on one of the major sights that have input to this problem..just curious

I read a couple on modular fords somewhere but don't have the direct link. As to the car being a rarity...we all know that. Remember, if something can go wrong then it has gone wrong with mine. It may have been bad rings from the factory too since it was smoking before the SC. It was definitely not anything Kurtis did when he put the SC on since they didn't touch that part of the engine. If you have bad ring to start off with then the SC with only exacerbate the problem.

Long story short is that the block is now at the machine shop and will be done Thursday or Friday of this week. At least when it comes back it won't puff huge clouds of black smoke everytime I hit the gas really hard to take off. No more Kevorkian cloud of death from the engine, only the tires!

Ok lets start laying bets on how soon the new engine grenades. The luck of Jeff you know. I say she goes krakatoa (sp?) on the first run down the 1/4 I'm starting the betting at $.25

I am also including a side bet of $.50 that it goes into the wall on the same run.

J/K Sounds like a beast. I hope I can get behind the wheel sometime.
