Keep it on there if possible--it's part of the crash safety engineering. If you get in an accident and your hood crumples as designed, there is a chance that it comes in contact with the positive terminal.

A big spark during or after an accident =

When I first got mine, the cover wouldn't stay on, but after messing around with it a little it popped into place and hasn't moved since......

Same here mine doesn't like to stay on and I have a 14 5.0 and I used clay to test if the postive terminals are touching the hood and there not. so I guess it's a safety feature for guys who lay tools across the terminals hmmmmmmm

For what it's worth...

Typically what happens is the positive terminal gets moved around and spun a little bit, just enough so that the bit that is supposed to go between the terminal and the battery case lip beside it is now too big for the gap that's been reduced.

Spinning the terminal a little bit away makes this thing fit like a glove.

At least... that's what I've found to be the case on Awesome's cover, anyway.

Wow! A 7 year old thread. I guess it still applies but wonder how many fit properly all these years later. Mine is hanging in there. Just one battery change and 19,800 miles on the car.

Oh heck. I didn't even notice that!

Well, then, my normal addition to one of those situations...
