I noticed some fluid all around the diff cover so I guess it must be a bad gasket. My question is on an '07 GT/CS 5 speed, what should I use for fluid? It has about 46K for mileage. I think I also need an addative for the friction.
When I found oil on mine it it was coming from the pinion seal on the front end , the oil will usually flow towards the rear so if it comes from the front it's probably your seal. If it's only around the diff cover it's probably the cover leaking ...
If it`s the diff cover, Ford calls for synthetic fluid and add an extra bottle of friction modifier.
Stock it is probably a gasket. Most people use the silicone because the Ford gaskets have a propensity to leak while the RTV silicone doesn't.
If you've been doing any amount of spirited driving it could be coming from the pressure relief valve on the top of the pumpkin. If so, this is actually normal, but creates an eye sore. the Shelby GT500 KR has an expansion tank attached to the breather for this very purpose.

Just back from the dealer - guess what even with unde 50k it is not covered by the powertrain warranty since no "parts" were used. But they did charge me $182.00 for Sealant, Friction addative, 3Qts of 75W140 oil, cleaner & labor!!!! Well atleast it is no longer leaking
I think I'd be complaining, up the chain, big time as the sealant is the "part" as they use no gasket to reduce chances of leaks. They could charge for fluids but labor and sealant should realistically be under warranty.
I finally got a hold of Ford Racing and they recommended 20-25 ft/lbs for their girdle. They also said to not use their gasket, just the silicone. But to be honest, the guy had to put me on hold to ask, and then didn't sound very confident in his answer.
I'm just going to leave it. I don't think the FRPP girdle will have any problems at 33 ft./lbs.

I've used both RTV silicone sealant and a gasket on my 8.8" rear end. Both worked equally well, but the gasket was a lot easier to use, and much easier to clean the next time I took it off. With frequent stock diff rebuilds for autocrossing, applying and scraping off the RTV every time can be a real pain.
Hey guys, just a question. It's mandatory to use friction addictive? Here in Portugal the dealers told me that i shouldnt use cause the oils here are fully sinthetic and have plus addictives.. :/ it«s the same 75w140 oil used in the Bmw's M3 / M5 etc.. dont know what really to do :S
