Correct! The early ones were 428CJ cars "knocked down" to the KarKraft assembly line where the engines were removed and then sent back to Ford. They found this was too expensive and eventually stopped doing this.

Last question for awhile. Need to give other people a chance to answer questions. On 79-86 Mustangs, certian models were built with fog lamps made by a company named Marchal:
79 Pace Car
80-81 Cobra
82 GT
84-86 GT
Where were these fog lamps built?

I'm finding some contridictory items when searching this. Some people say Marchal went out of business in the early 80's and the name was bought by Valeo, the same Co.that make alternators for the new Mustangs. So if Valeo manufactures them?? I'll guess Mexico just for stating the non obvious.

They did infact go out of business, which it is so hard to find these any more. You either have to go to a junk yard or pay through the nose for NOS ones. The same is tru with the covers that go over them. I don't know about them being a French company. The back of the Fog Lights say pretty clear where they were made. It wasn't one of these "send it to China" things either. Try looking in the below book if you can find it. Chances are you will not find this info on the internet, maybe here www.foureyedpride.com

I know the Marchal lights that came on 1968 Shelbys and California Specials were made in France. According to this, they were for the '80s GTs too.. http://books.google.com/books?id=mxj...GEIpfjp4&hl=en
Of course, I also know you can't believe everything you read on the internet...
But, if you look at the back picture in this Ebay Auction, it clearly states "Made in France"!

In 1972, in celebration of the '72 Olympics, a special red/white/blue Mustang Sprint edition was produced. There were two other Ford vehicles from this year that were also available with this special paint scheme. Name them...

Can we make this 2 history parts? If not just answer one.
1- What was significant about the year 1909 in Fords history.
2- What does F stand for as in F-150?
This may be easy, but I'm trying to mix things up a bit

Thanks, runningwild, I just have a very large collection of factory Ford literature that I've been collecting for about 30 years - always adding to it. My dad was a member of the original Ford Drag Club back in 1969-70 and used to drag race a 406 (and later 427) powered '62 Galaxie 500, so I've always been a Ford nut (although I did own an AMX one time ).
