I don't think they are 620lb coils. It didn't say in the description, but they looked like the 520lb ones. If they don't settle enough I'm going to cut them. Also looked at my ball joints and I just need to replace my steering components. The UCA and LCA ball joints are still good. Next on the list to buy is leaf springs.

Future exterior setup: Candy Apple Red paint, Black Hood w/hood pins(painted black), black tail panel, smoked taillights, smoked turn signals, smoked headlights, 1+ inch extra drop. Maybe tint haven't decided yet since the weatherstripping might scratch it. New rims are in the future also.

Anyone know how dark taillights and headlights can be before they become illegal?

You might look around on the Alabama vehicle code website http://www.legislature.state.al.us/C...1975/22786.htm If you can't find a definitive answer, I would suggest asking a local Police officer. Never hurts to have Police as your friends either. kennyg

All I can find is this. So I guess as long as the taillights still emit red lighting that is visible they are legal.
All lighting devices and reflectors mounted on the rear of any vehicle shall display or reflect a red color, except the stop light or other signal device, which may be red, amber or yellow, and except that the light illuminating the license plate or the light emitted by a back-up lamp shall be white.
and

Front clearance lamps and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color.

Just dont risk your safety in attempting a cool look. Someone could run up on you because they thought you were farther away because your taillights looked dim. kennyg

Yeah I'd like them dark(almost black), but I don't want to have a wreck happen due to them being too dark. I think LED setup would help too since that would be brighter than stock and could help penetrate the tint more.

Also to not ruin my lights, I'm going to get new headlights and taillights and smoke them. So if they don't work out I still have a set to swap out.

You need some static cling the color you want and trim it to perfectly fit the taillights and headlights. Install when you get to cruise ins or car shows, and take it back off before you leave. Just an idea. kennyg

actually . they must reflect light in the day, and light up at night,

i had blacked out tail lights and got pulled over 3 times here in Huntsville all 3 times i got a warning but they told me red tails silver headlights and amber turns are the only thing allowed in Alabama. but i did have California tags, maybe that's why they hounded me

I'm going to wait until I can buy a new set of lenses before I smoke them. I do want it around that darkness though.

I think the newer mustangs use a different style light though. I'll find out later this month.

Don't know if you looked or not, but Mustangs Unlimited sells a leaf spring kit for $165, stock ride height. I'm ordering the kit in 2 weeks.
