Just a question to get us back to the Bullitt: Has anyone heard any more or other info on the Bullitt? I just find it strange that we would get the rumoured info so far ahead of the actual production date. I've asked a few Ford dealers and they know nothing about the car at all. Anyone?

Well with 08 production not starting until late June and the Bullitt not scheduled to start production until Dec. It will probably be several more months before you hear much more.

There was no personal attack.

Perhaps TMS should be upfront with its membership and explain the real reason why there are plans to restrict certain members and their opinions rather than using the Zero Tolerance policy as a smoke screen. It would be the honorable thing to do and affirm integrity, the same one many institutions lack and many of us are so critical of.

George, I edited your post because you quoted a personal attack from another member. I did this after I edited the personal attack directed at you. When you quoted me above you left out the word "quoted". My edit of your post at 11:57 said

I didn't edit your post because you made a personal attack, but because you quoted one.

We are not restricting "certain" members as you put it George, its for the entire forum, no one including staff, sponsors or outside business's are excluded from this. The situation involves multiple levels and I do not wish to bring the exact details into public view as it is done with and there is no sense in beating an already dead horse.

Can we please keep the thread on topic.

Scott.

No argument there.

Here, however, I must disagree. The point is that Ford is most assuredly NOT making a steed for every need. If they were, the enormous performance gap between the GT and GT500 would be filled (Shelby GTs and Bullitts don't count in this regard).

Instead, what we have is >> Shelby GT, Shelby GT500, Shelby GT500KR, Shelby GT500 Super Snake...all of which have ridiculous ADMs that place them out of reach of Ford's constiuent buyer; the "average buyer," as you so correctly pointed out.

Then why don't they make a 375-400 HP Mustang within reach of the "average" joe, instead of a 500 HP Cobra, which - with the addition of a few 90 cent Shelby badges - is only for the rich. And Ford doesn't see any of that ADM money anyway.

Sadly, I agree with you 100% on this issue.

We have reached peak oil now. We will reach a point this century where it will cost the equivalent of a barrel of oil to extract a barrel of oil out of the earth. When that day comes, our entire civilization will undergo a quantum shift...and it won't be pleasant.

Muscle cars will be the least of anyone's worry. We'll be lucky to have cars at all, frankly.

And that' my complaint with the new Bullitt. With 400hp under the hood, Ford would finally have considered this gaping hole as a potential opening for new sales and then release another SE with about the same power the following year. Too bad Ford wasn't listening.

I saw it as well. It didn't bother me at all.

Whammer is wrong in his assessment that I am full of myself but he is one hundred percent right that I am arrogant, almost as arrogant as the parties you are set to protect.

Since I've been on TMS I've never complained or reported a single post, even when I have been called names. Life is about making choices and then living with them. That applies to TMS as well.

Perhaps you should ask Brad if he remembers what happened to BON when Robert Lane allowed an outside influence to dictate policy for BON. If his memory is not clear about the details which led to BON's downfall, I am sure that Galaxie, Dan, Burningman, Boomer, and others can refresh his memory.

Yes you are. You are choosing a party that doesn't even support TMS over loyal members.

I figured that one out shortly after I read your announcement.
Can we please keep the thread on topic.
AFBLUE opened the door to off topic comments the minute he decided to send a message which I concluded I was one of the intended targets if not the primary one.

Well perhaps the GT500 isn't as much about profit (from that particular car) as it is about publicity.
Look at the stir it caused. Look at all the free press they are getting.
You may want one but you're wallet (and wife) say no and perhaps you then settle for a v6 or a gt.

Ford gets the PR. Dealers get "Bonus" cars to sell at whatever price they can get. How many Focus would a dealer have to sell to make $10-20K profit?

...Asking Ford to make a 350-400hp Mustang shouldn't be so unreasonable.

Its not my fault Ford Mo. Co. is so poorly managed. I've done my part. I continue to buy Fords. My Dad retired from Ford after 32+ years. I have friends & relatives that either work at Ford or are retired from Ford. THEY ALL BUY FORDS!

Look at Dodge for example. They have the Magnum R/T msrp $32,065 340HP.
Magnum SRT8 msrp $38,345 - 425hp.

Those prices are very similar to the Dodge Charger:
Charger R/T = $31,190, 340hp
Charger Daytona = $34,890, 350hp
Charger SRT 8 = $38,695, 425hp

Then GM was selling the 2006 GTO 400hp for msrp $33,290
the mustang gt stacks up very well with dc or whatever they call themselves now because, of a little issue called weight! and the mustang gt cost less!

why does ford need a car to fill the gap? and why does it have to be now? the mustang gt is a great bargain and can be had at 25k with a little effort. the new mustang is heads and tails above the 04 and is just a little more money. great job ford.
the gt500 is out of this world! for a unibody constructed car the performce of the gt500 is spectacular(there are some great vids of a near stock gt500 passing gt3's and z06's on svtperformance). and i for one am glad that ford priced this just out of the price range of every high school kid who wants to be cool.

why does everyone believe that ford has left them out? why does ford have to build a mustang for each individual? bottom line if you dont see the mustang that you want, go out and build it! there is enough tv programs out now that will show you how!

If you haven't noticed, I don't want to pay $52k-62k for a Shelby GT500.

If you can find me a Dealership that will sell me a GT500 for $42k & Z Plan.
I'll buy one!

There is an se prototype pictured on ford grounds at www.blueovalnews.com. It looks a lot like what was described in the first post, except for the color.

Even worse is YTD sales in 2007 are down 19% from 2006 and unless sales pick up a lot, in 2007 the Mustang will have it's worst sales year since 1999.

The "gotta have it" factor is fading on the S197 Mustang and the backlash George brought up is real.
