I hope you are right. There's been no leak as to a possible double vented hood, that'd be a cue which would rally the fans but there was an obscure pic posted here which was quickly retracted showing a V6 bumper. If so, it would not be the best of choices.

The C/S is a "badge & sticker job," hardly a real special edition.
The GT500 certainly is a special edition - so special, in fact, that it's nothing more than a collector's item/playtoy for the uber rich. Regular folks who want more than a GT need not apply.
The Bullitt is actually the closest thing yet to a Ford-produced SE, but it falls woefully short in every respect.
I never said the Bullitt was a Shelby GT. And frankly, with at least eight months to go until Bullitts are available for sale, we don't what "upgrades" it will have for sure...or whether or not it will be cheaper than the Shelby GT - though I suspect it will.
so you think a better option is 400hp for $10k more than a mustang gt?
the 400hp mustang is coming. its not here yet because the motors(boss 5.8, 6.2, and 6.4) are not ready yet! would you rather have ford bring the bullitt out when they are ready?
and since everyone here is so great at business, the extra 15k for the gt500 should be no problem for them!

i'd wait on a 400hp Bullitt.
if you're not going to do it right, don't do it at all.

The window of opportunity is closing for the Big 3 to produce high H.P. V8 Automobiles. Both GM & Chrysler have already proven that you can sell & produce 340hp - 425hp automobiles for a reasonable price. Ford has yet to prove they can do the same.
If anything, Ford has made things even worse. Mustang GT Premiums are near or above $30k at some Dealerships. Shelby GT's cost nearly as much as GT500's, and there is nothing telling me that this new Bullitt isn't going to follow in the same path as the other over priced SE's.

If the BULLITT wheels will have a diameter of 18 inches, there is no reason why the GT500 brakes cannot be added. They would fit and the additional costs would be minimal.

When announced as a Special Edition, there were a number of folks expecting a "lower to the ground look" to mean a FRPP suspension as included, not just 1 1/2" lower front end. Boy what a dissappointment.
To me, it's not a question of what a real special edition is in your mind, but what are you getting for the money. I'm of the opinion that FoMOCo will give all of us as little as possible for as long as possible.
Mark Fields announced the car long before its release with the intention of hyping the car amongst enthusiasts...knowing full well that they would talk endlessly about it - hence the 21 pages in this Bullitt thread alone. I call that "hyping."
Camaro and Challenger are not the only competitors out there. More and more vehicles are entering the "300 HP Club." By next year, Ford will need more than a 315 HP dark green Mustang to keep the car competitive in '08.

again 21 pages of this thread is hype and complaints by the consumer not ford. fields announced the bullitt almost 2 years ago with some other future product lines. we have seen no articles on the bullitt. we have seen no press releases on the bullitt. we have seen no photos of the bullitt. if ford was "hyping" this car it would have already been in a car show. in fact ford is "hiding" this car from the public to help keep the sales up for the over priced shelby gt.
to keep the car competitive they will need a 300hp car in a 3500lb package or less. your are correct there are going to be many 300hp cars in the market the next few years. and many of them will retail for 35k and above. g37 or bullitt? is350 or bullitt? 335i or bullitt? rt's or bullitt? but none of these cars will have a better power to weight, than the bullitt! and most will cost more than the bullitt!
and if thats not good enough, purchase a mustang gt and save $8k!
That's precisely what I did. And you could do the same.
The fact is that there is a huge gaping hole (i.e. untapped market) between the 300 and 500 HP marks. Ford should have - or will very shortly need to have - a car to fill that void. DCX already offers cars with 350 + HP. IMO, the Bullitt should have been that car. Not what amounts to another Shelby GT with green paint.
But hey, if you're that enamored with Ford's decisions re the new Bullitt, by all means, knock yourself out and buy one.
Me? I'll take a pass, thanks.

I think the GT500 wheels are the only ones that technically fit without adding a spacer. They have a different backspacing than the 3 other 18" Ford wheels (fanblades, Bullitts, Maruader) out there.
Assuming they were not a simple change out of color on the existing 18" x 8.5" Bullitt-style wheels and the proper design changes were made for a specific set for this car, I would agree.

Not only would it be a perfect match for the BULLITT, but also a good upgrade for the black Shelby GT and those who like the wheels. It would be a good addition for FRPP.
