If you could, you'd be an oil company making a $40 billion profit this year.

According to an article I recently read, the blame does not lay solely on the oil companies. American oil companies only have access to about 7% of the world's oil reserves.

A great deal of the blame lands squarely on our own government. There is legislation in place prohibiting us from tapping into our own oil sources here in the US. There are billions of gallons of untapped oil here. All the while, Saudi Arabia has us by the short hairs and we're just bending over and taking it.

Premium fuel here in So. Cal. is now around $4.75 a gallon!!! Other than using our own resources, the only we we're really gonna ever stick it to 'em is to start exploring alternative forms of transportation. I myself have started riding my bicycle to work. It's only about 7 miles each way but I calculated that it is saving me about $300 a month!

Of course, alternative fuel sources will eventually become a necessity. The world's crude oil reserves will NOT last forever.

As long as the demand is there, the costs will not go down. Our dependence on foreign oil MUST STOP !

We import the largest percentage of oil from Canada and oil companies only earn about 7-10 cents on a gallon of gas.

Correct... the price of oil in Europe is heavily taxed because the money generated from the tax was, and is still used by their government to support a public transportation infrastructure for people that work and pay taxes. The US should have been doing that a looonng time ago. Then when the **** hits the fan and prices for fuel sky rocket, as they have in the last 6 months, the people have an alternative that has been established. Instead, our government throws money at ridiculous social programs that ultimately benefits no one and only makes problems worse.

Anyway... enjoy the Bullitt. Low miles aren't a bad thing. Looking at it is fun too. The longer it sits and the more often you drive your other cars the faster the Bullitt seems to be when you drive it.

I’m thinking of getting a scooter to commute to work on nice days. My motor cycle license is still active.
Coffee keeps me going.

Just ride out the storm boys/girls!
Something is going to change!
It might be good, or it might be bad, but there will be change!
Maybe this might be the end of the V8 and we are lucky. Or we will have tons of garage queens! If I knew what I know now, I still would have bought my Bullitt!
No one was ever accused me of being the brightest guy on the block though

I'm fortunate in a way because I own my car that I use for work (07 Honda Accord) but I get gas paid for by my employer and $300 a month for vehicle maint. The problem is I put about 25,000 miles a year going to different restaurants for work, so I buy new cars alot.

2008-2009 BULLITT The Bullitt is Back

We have known since the 1973 oil embargo of our need to get off imported oil, and have chosen to do nothing about it.

Sorry to say, we will not get off imported oil until the price of gas exceeds the price of alternative automotive fuels.

By the way, I have an 08 Bullitt (#1820) and will drive it until I can't put food on the table.

It will be YEARS before any new drilling will produce results.
It will not lower the price of gas, just add to the oil company's profits.
We have just as much oil as we did last year, maybe more.
The price has doubled on speculation, not lack of oil.

More drilling will just increase oil company profits.
Why would you want to help the oil companies?
Heck, releasing some of the strategic oil reserves (which was purchased mostly below $50 dollars a barrel) will do much more in the short term.

That probably won't help much either! Why would a government owing Trillions of dollars sell gasoline from its reserve at less than half what its worth? Remember our government is better known for paying too much for things... and not giving them away.

What I think needs to be done is the regulation of gasoline prices. Getting gasoline away from the speculators will do much more for us in the long run. And in the longer run we need to be pushing for new technologies that will eliminate the need for fossil fuels...
