While everything about the Bullitt is cool, I have a mental block against Green.

I had too many green cars in the '80's.

I get it... the replication is awesome. No argument there at all.

Bob,

I'm struggling with how you can "get it" yet you went from a Bullitt to a Z4?

Z4's are nice and all, but I consider myself as someone that "get's it" and I could never have a Z4. I'd have to go M3...

Actually traded the Bullitt for a new Infiniti G37X sedan for the wife, yes I sacrificed the Bullitt for my bride of 34 years. Then things worked out where I could get another sporty car so the low mileage 2007 Z4 3.0i roadster caught my eye. It has a much better bling factor than the Bullitt. The Bullitt was a little "plain jane" on the outside for me, but I really loved the interior and the green paint. I still from time to time miss my 08 Green #3440 Bullitt! Thinking about a 2008 Vette now, but I don't know if I can stand a Chevy in my garage. May just have to buy a new Mustang GT or a Challenger! The Z4 is a great car, but the factory warranty is gone in about 6 months and unless you are made of money you don't want to own an out of warranty BMW.

I'm happy to do without fake scoops, non-functional spoiler and stripes...
OH HELL YEAH!! I'd buy it again ....

but all kidding aside, the CS has a better lower ft grilly thingy - dont you think?

Part of the reason I got one... I liked Legend Lime, but it was gone by '08...

Actually, the whole Bullitt package is what I wanted in a Mustang; I prefer the stealthy, "sleeper" look.
I love the dash (!), think the seats are nicer than the GT's, really wanted the stronger rear end with factory 3.73s, love the wheels, etc.
I'd thought the Bullitt's suspension was upgraded (**** car salesmen..), but learned better soon enough. My first mod was new springs, dampers and anti-sway bars.

Since the Bullitt, I had an itch for a KR... It's a beast and I love it too, but prefer the Bullitt as my regular driver. It performs the stealth role and blends in.

You've said that twice now, and I don't agree at all. And it wasn't your salesman, but Ford engineers that stated that.

I realize it can be improved upon like any vehicle. I'm sure the Koni's are great. But I find a great compromise as the engineers stated where they didn't firm it up too far so as to diminish comfort for "road trip!". The Shelby GT apparently was firmer (where some complained of day to day harshness), but the engineers stated Bullitt out handled it. Course you'll have to ask them about that.

For years I haven't been able to drive more than 3 or 4 hours straight without pain in my back and hip from a job injury. 6 hrs was the limit. But I drove an 8 hour loop up the coast, down the 5 and back up over the Cascades and didn't have any pain or pinch at all. (yeah!)

Yet at the same time I can push my 2 lane twisties hard and fast even with SRA. What I did find is as long as I set up in the right gear where I'm 4-5K and am accelerating before entering the turn (or at least neutral accel if going down steep curves, but no decel once into the turn), the weight shifts to the rear and I have great balance where I can throttle steer to finesse the curve. No under or oversteer. In fact I had to whip it way hard coming out of a 180 just so I could get the back to swing out a bit for fun - because it really didn't want to let go. When under acceleration in the curve, with uneven roads or bumps, the suspension provides grip and traction where there is no loss of control in spite of SRA. (Course I'm all about SRA handling going back to Healey.) Mine sticks and handles great with total confidence. It does have a bit more roll and dive than I'd prefer but it's not affecting the balance or confidence. I know there where threads about a discrepancy in springs where some were getting soft like GT springs, but as I remember that was later in the run and into 09's.

My favorite road plunges 3000' feet with switchbacks and 180 hairpins in less than about 15-20 mins., with lousy banking and a typical no shoulder Oregon road.

Course I realize these things are subjective. But most GT owner comments noticed Bullitt's improvement.
Your Bullitt and your KR are double cool!!

While I think stock Bullitt handling was OK, the first canyon drive I made showed the car to have the back end hopping around tighter turns when pushed a bit... The fix was better damping. At the same time though, I wanted it a tad lower, so went with Vogtland springs and figured I'd try some Hotchkis anti-sway bars that I got for a good price (lightly used - eBay). I learned about the same time I was swapping parts, that the only "Bullitt specific" suspension parts were the dampers, and while stiffer than the GT's, they didn't react quickly enough to control the rear hop around tight turns... Konis made a world of difference.

I've driven my Bullitt at Road America and found the handling package to work wonderfully. That said, I'd like better shocks and a Watts Link, but am happy with the basic spring and sway bar rates. Probably, the next thing I would like to upgrade is the brakes. SInce I want to keep the Bullitt wheels, I'm looking at better rotors and pads.
The Cal Special is standard GT fare with extra stripes and scoops...no go fast improvments....Bullitt is a better ride!

you mean like the exact same ones installed on the $80k factory built racecar?
do 3.73 gears mean its fast? my actual race car has 3.27 gears. maybe im doing it all wrong?!?

not a fan of bullitt wheels at all. polished GT/CS are much nicer, but i sold them within 600 miles.

the "most important feature" is the clutch pack? are you kidding me? really? thats your selling point? there isnt a smiley big enough to laugh at you.

when i bought my CS, the bullitt on the lot was $6k more. all rebates accounted for. that 5/6 grand on a blower and the CS will stomp a bullitt. even with its magical clutch packs! the poll is CS vs bullitt, granted there was more savings on a stripped GT, but thats not the discussion here. i picked up the CS because im sick of all black interior and i cant stand tan. the grey two tone was nice to see in a sea of ALL BLACK.

Garrett,

I read your post and voted, but I didn't read any responses to your thread because I wanted to get straight to my response. In my mind there is no doubt. The Bullitt is the way to go. When it comes to the "cool factor" no mustang touches the Bullitt...........not even the Shelby's. Don't get me wrong, Shelby's and Cali Specials are cool........very cool in fact, but I'm just partial to the Bullitt. To each their own, but the Bullitt will get my vote every time.

Perfect.

To all bullitt owners. I would go on to say that everyone that has a CS would love all of the extra stuff the bullitt has, but still have the appearance package of the CS. Honestly, for any CS to catch up to a bullitt (speaking of only real world conditions here, not a race track where passing is encouraged) it would only take a CAI, a tune and exhaust.

The bullitt is awesome, but I just like the styling of the CS better

I like the white w/ black stripes CS. Beautiful car. I love the Bullitts' understated appeal. That's why I bought one over the other.

The Bullitt is slightly better performing out the box, but the GT/CS is better looking...
