08 Bullitt, or wait for 09 GT?

In the real world, this car is mega fast. It scares me sometimes. I can't believe they are allowed to sell something like this to the public for use on public roads.
If you get a chance, drive one sometime. You won't even think about those numbers.
AS to your previous point, the Bullitt will be plenty fast. I could see the argument to save the money and still have a great street car. On the other hand, having the big dog sure is fun.
Enjoy your Bullitt. I can't wait to see one.

Yeah, the heavy front end definitely doesn't help. But, the GT500 is a great car from what I've seen. I've seen a lot of guys really tune those things up. It really does take a lot of skill to drive one safely, I imagine.

I think a set of 4.10s would cure that

Fact is, a regular GT is too fast for street use. I can barely use third gear in the city, unless I want to drive at 1200 RPMs all the time...which isn't great for the engine.
I can't even imagine the frustration of slogging a GT500 around town, knowing that the thing just wants to run.

No, you got hammered because I believe you said that your 06GT with a CAI was a performance match for the Bullitt.
But with 3.73 gears and improved supension the Bullitt will run circles around your GT. To mod your GT up to Bullitt specs will cost you more in the long run than buying a Bullitt.
And it's not too hard to find a Bullitt for MSRP or less- ya just need to look a little bit.

Well I own a Bullitt and a GT and there is a HUGE difference in how they both perform. The GT is a great car- but the Bullitt is an upgrade in almost everyway.
There are so many upgrades on the Bullitt and the cost of those is only about 2k over the GT. You cannot get a GT and go out and spend 2k and get all those upgrades yourself. Can't be done.
There is always "the next best thing". Every year brings out models that improve upon the previous year- that's how car companies stay in business.

Well I should explain it a bit better...if you go to the ford website and build your mustang and try and option it like a bullitt, you'll get the base price of the GT and you'll have to add on 18" wheels ($925), interior upgrade ($460). So now you've got a 2k difference from the Bullitt.
So with that 2k you've got to buy: CAI, performance tune, improved suspension, 3.73 rear end, improved exhaust and chrome tips, improved braking, upgraded seats, aluminum pedals, and strut tower brace.
I think you'd be doing pretty well to get all of that purchased and installed for 2k.
