I'd keep the bullitt.
in 10 years the GT will be just another GT
the bullitt will be a legend.
oh yea i forgot, it already is.

Not as many as they've sold of GTs.

So there goes the pretext for that argument.

I would hope they've sold more GTs

I realize the numbers are the only way to objectively rate the car. One of the biggest problems with the "numbers" is traction. It is difficult to take off from a dead stop and get great times. This thing will spin freely if you let it. Personally, I don't care about the numbers.

In the real world, this car is mega fast. It scares me sometimes. I can't believe they are allowed to sell something like this to the public for use on public roads.

If you get a chance, drive one sometime. You won't even think about those numbers.

AS to your previous point, the Bullitt will be plenty fast. I could see the argument to save the money and still have a great street car. On the other hand, having the big dog sure is fun.

Enjoy your Bullitt. I can't wait to see one.

Kevin.

Yeah, the heavy front end definitely doesn't help. But, the GT500 is a great car from what I've seen. I've seen a lot of guys really tune those things up. It really does take a lot of skill to drive one safely, I imagine.

For sure. I can feel mine "wanting" to go faster, and I'm never using 5th unless I'm on the interstate.

I think a set of 4.10s would cure that

I can't even imagine the frustration of slogging a GT500 around town, knowing that the thing just wants to run.
This why I ordered a Bullitt instead of a regular GT.

And it's not too hard to find a Bullitt for MSRP or less- ya just need to look a little bit.
Don't get me wrong, I like the 08 buillitt, but according to test it is not that much faster or better handling than a regular Mustang GT. Take it for what it is worth but motor trend number for the 08 Buillitt were 0-60 5.0 sec, 1/4 mile in 13.7 and on the skippad did .87 Gs The 05 GT auto did 5.2 and 1/4 mile in 13.6. I think the manual did 13.5 in the 1/4 mile; however, one magazine clocked the buillit around 13.3 in the 1/4. With that being said for around 1200-1500 you can purchase a tune/cai and suspension set up that will improve performance and handling for a reg GT. And to answer the OP orginal question, it does not mater what one you purchase. You will both be satisfied and distsatisfied at the same time. You may have buyers remores either way.

Well I own a Bullitt and a GT and there is a HUGE difference in how they both perform. The GT is a great car- but the Bullitt is an upgrade in almost everyway.
There are so many upgrades on the Bullitt and the cost of those is only about 2k over the GT. You cannot get a GT and go out and spend 2k and get all those upgrades yourself. Can't be done.

There is always "the next best thing". Every year brings out models that improve upon the previous year- that's how car companies stay in business.

I had an '05 and an '06 too and have noticed the Bullitt is 'upgraded' in many ways. However, I have wondered too if at least some of what I am responding to are 'upgrades' to the GT in general since MYs '05 & '06, and not just specific to the Bullitt.

For the US models, the Bullitt upgrade over the GT Premium cost is $3310.

Well I should explain it a bit better...if you go to the ford website and build your mustang and try and option it like a bullitt, you'll get the base price of the GT and you'll have to add on 18" wheels ($925), interior upgrade ($460). So now you've got a 2k difference from the Bullitt.
So with that 2k you've got to buy: CAI, performance tune, improved suspension, 3.73 rear end, improved exhaust and chrome tips, improved braking, upgraded seats, aluminum pedals, and strut tower brace.

I think you'd be doing pretty well to get all of that purchased and installed for 2k.
