I for one applaud what Shelby is doing, and thank you Amy for what looks like a great many steps in the right direction. What we're looking at will be something that will be affordable, attractive, and fun to drive! With a factory warranty to boot. Think about that as you build your own at home, and what will be the trade in value of that beast when the time comes to make your next move?

Amy, you're doing all of us a great service by sharing your vision. I'm disappointed that I've just taken delivery of a 07 GT/CS vert, with plans to upgrade with some of the FRPP packages. Now the question is when do I trade for a Shelby GT?

For those of you complaining about colors, I suspect it is only a matter of time before there will be other choices.

The way Ford has treated me in the past in regards to warrenty work it's one in the same. And I'd be willing to bet that this car Shelby GT wont have much more in value come trade in time than a standard loaded GT.
I could be wrong but time will tell.

And for all those folks that do their own upgrades, and improvements - just how much value will they see come trade-in time? My experience has been that they are better off selling the car themselves or driving it into the ground, then to expect to get the investment(?) in upgrades back from the dealer.

Let's try to remember how much work you can do on your ride, only to watch the factory warranty disappear. For those that don't want to take the time (or have the time) to play with the upgrades, Shelby is offering another option.

When you say "much more in value", that maybe true. For me, there is "more value."

for you it sounds like the Shelby will be a good deal..for me not so much

and that is as it should be.

and just for record..I don't mod my cars in anyway untill the warrenty expires....but Ford didn't seem to care.

Thanks, I learned a long time ago, I can't please everyone, athough I do try...lol

The bottomline is, there is a need for an entry level Shelby, that is cool, a little faster and fun to drive. There is also a need to do what Carroll did best, high end, more $$$ and much horsepower. This too will happen. But this is a new relationship and it's baby steps. We are very happy to be working with Ford on this new car. Thanks for the support

On a side note, when I talk Cobra, I mean the " shelby cobra" as I build them vegas as well. sorry for the confusion.

Thanks! we will have parts for your car to make it a "shelby" and the GT/CS is already close in legacy to a shelby....

This is exactly what I wanted, the GT/CS front air dam, the spoiler delete and is just what the doctor ordered. Called my Internet guy at my dealer gave him the heads up and as soon as the orders get goin I'll be right there!!!

I bet the dealers are fuming for it not named the Shelby GT350.

Because she works for Shelby America, not Ford. When you work for that company in Las Vegas, your talking about the real deal Cobras, as that was what the Cobra name was all about. Shelby had nothing to do with a Cobra Mustang, other than the snake symbol.

On a side note, I really like what they are doing with this car. Its another car that has the Shelby name on it, and its a REAL Shelby, built in Las Vegas. Its not a clone, like so many mid 60's cars you see around. So it doesn't have 400 hp? If it did, you know it would cost several thousands more. And about it keeping up with the Camaro, as I heard somewhere in this thread, that car isn't out, and won't be out till 2008 calender year. I'm sure there is a car in the pipeline with Chevy's hideous interpretation of a classis Camaro. I say thank you to Amy for her awesome insight on the project, and to Shelby for getting back with Ford, where it all started. He is my automotive idol, and am in awe of the man for all he has done for the automobile, and for his recovery from the several transplants he had. Having had a liver transplant myself almost 3 years ago now, I can tell you, its a slow, painful recovery, and I was only 27 when I had mine, Carroll was alot older. That's what I call willpower, and a good spirit. Keep up the good work Carroll, I'm always in your corner. Your the man!!

I would have liked the option of white/silver with Blue stripes but it's not a show stopper.

For those curious what a white S-197 with silver stripes looks like.


Do I use my X-plan pin and get a Satin Silver GT and add Blue painted stripes with either GT package or Roush hood scoop? Or do pay quite a bit more for a White Shelby GT with silver stripes?

I guess it will all come down to how much I will have to pay to get that Shelby GT. If it's higher than the low $30s then I may not be in the market for a Shelby GT.

"Real Deal Cobras" . . . I'm sure all the fans/owners of the SVT Cobras from 1993-2006 might argue that they have "Real Deal Cobras". If one is talking about Mustangs and Cobras in the same context then I assume SVT Cobra, if one is talking about Shelby A/C Cobras then that's what I think of. And I'm glad Shelby had nothing to do with the 1993-2006 Cobras . . . for that I thank John Coletti!

How could it be any higher? Figure out the upgrades and a little premium for the Shelby name. Some cosmetics, a CAI, and exhaust do not command a higher price.

True Mustang Lovers will be very happy with this new Shelby, I think, pretty sure, anyway the guy who received his GT500 on Friday who was the first to get his from the dealer paid $47 Grand and change..... already has it up for sale for $62,000
