Looked at Shelby GT today

Looked at Shelby GT today
While having the GT/CS stripe replaced, walked into the showroom and "wow" there it was.
Black, silver stripes, hood pins, Hurst shifter, the works, in all of its glory.
Then I decided to look closer, ok so everything, except Shelby ID plates, and stick-on rear trunk lettering can be purchased from FRPP catalog and
installed on your car.
In my opinion, what gives? I know that its the Dealer available version of the Hertzs Rental, but I'm still confused.
No rear spoiler, duck tail, etc. and whats up with the fake rivets around the perimiter of the hood scoop. They don't attach through the hood itself
just in the scoop?
The wife took one look and said " I"ll keep my '07 GT/CS Vert", walked out
and went back to the service waiting area.
Price? Ford Sticker over $30,000.00 + Shelby sticker over $8000 (including) $1000.00 gas guzzler tax.
According to dealer out the door for $43,900.00 after "mark up"

I have the upmost respect for Shelby Inc., Amy B and Carrol
and for what they have done for the industry over the last
50 somewhat years.
But this is not the GT 500 type of bang for the buck.
Nor does it have the status of the '65 GT 350 and GT 500
cars of the past.

Right, right...and right again. 
It's actually a very faithful representation of those early Shelbys, if you really study it, but paying that much $$ for a car up front that hasn't even proven its collectibility over time yet, makes it a tough pill to swallow.
On the other hand, Shelby's new business is fledgling, and they have to keep the lights on and the employees paid, so...
But once GT500s come down to MSRP, those Shelby GTs will become a tough sell.
The "normal" Mustang GT premium remains the best bang for the buck...by a long shot!
It's actually a very faithful representation of those early Shelbys, if you really study it, but paying that much $$ for a car up front that hasn't even proven its collectibility over time yet, makes it a tough pill to swallow.

It is time to face reality here, Ford-based Shelbys and Cobras old or new were NEVER meant to be affordable or within reach of the "average Joe (or Jane)." If anyone still doesn't believe it, time to raise the 
flag and follow up with a visit to a dealer to see the pricing before and after mark-up. 
Price-wise, this car is treading dangerously close, if not into Corvette territory and offering nowhere near the performance capability, unlike the original racing GT350.

Each to their own...but I just wanted to say that I picked up Shelby GT #507 Wednesday night and I'm having a LOT of fun with it. Mine is a black 5 speed.
Would I rather have a GT 500? Yep.
Do I love my Shelby GT? Yep. A lot.
Could I have basically made the same car from FRPP parts? Yep, but I probably wouldn't have.
The handling, the exhaust, the lowered stance...all are very sweet. And I got mine for MSRP...came in at just under $40K.

Saw one at local dearler, ADM of 10,000. Interestingly, nearby dealer has a grabber orange GT500 on the lot for over a month, guessing demand is slowing and MSRP GT-500's will be come common. Discounts by next year.

CHEAP is when you trade in a 'Stang for a Honda Civic , not when you
decide that Shelby has lost their minds at the asking price of a Shelby GT + the Dealer markup
