The ricer is a temporary setback... 18 months at most... I promise. You have my word. I swear... better yet...
may lightning strike you if this is not the truth.

Lighting Strike?

I've already been through an F5 Tornado and survived.

It could have been worse, I could have been caught driving a RICER

And this is exactly what I was saying from the very second they announced this car. Not worth it in anyway shape or form.

As one who was initially very excited about the Shelby GT, I better understand your point of view now.

Initially, Shelby Autos estimated the Shelby GT would be in the $34-35K range (before that came out I was thinking $32-33K), it didn't have a $1K Gas Guzzler Tax, and I hadn't realized that the grille was an insert over the factory one.

I think the Shelby GT would be a good value in low to mid $30Ks, but to me, it's currently overpriced for what you actually get.

Just about everyone was.

I would think the actual MSRP rather than projected price of $35 - 36K was the first letdown then the clincher was the flimsy cosmetics which Shelby Autos assumed no one would notice.

$40K... and they would fly of the dealer lots... without being noticed?

They do come in at around $37-38K MSRP if you order a base GT. Mine, an MSRP deal, comes in at $41K because I got every option available including navigation. I'm spending another $4k with SAI to have them install the CS6 hood, Shelby rear spoiler, and lower grill insert. It's my understanding the new grill bracket will soon be available as a standard install. I think this car will be beautiful and will outlook my 05 GT any day. Add to this owning a small piece of Mustang history, a car that unlike the GT500, is actually worked on by Shelby, and it's better resale value when compared with a GT even with all the FRP parts etc. added, and I'm VERY happy.

Of course this is my opinion and your milage may vary!

I think his laughter is because it isnt as if Carrol is out turning wrenches. And if he is then shame on him for laying a a hacked up grill on another one. The hole thing really smells of a fast $$ grab.

I have a real problem with this Shelby GT. Does this mean that Ford also plans on selling their future SE's at $35k or over?
Its bad enough I had lower my expectations due to the high sticker price of the GT500, but now it looks like I may have to lower them again.

I don't have a problem paying $35k for a 380-400hp Mach1 or Boss. But, I am not going to fork out the extra cash for a 25hp increase.
The GTO had 400hp and the sticker price was in the $33k range. I even saw them selling for $29k at some lots. Yes, the GTO is history, but the point I am trying to make is that if GM can sell a 400hp car for $33k, then so can Ford.

I just have a feeling that I am going to end up buying another Mustang GT, because its the best bang for the buck. I want a SE. But there better be something really "Special" about it, before I spend over $35k!

I agree about the grill issue. I don't think they anticipated the backlash given this was the way the Hertz cars were done and I never saw anyone point the grill out as an issue.

I just wish someone had looked at the fit and finish of this and the scoop with an more critical eye to be sure.

Besides on here at TMS is there really a backlash. On the Shelby Autos forum it is rarely even mentioned by owners (maybe I missed these threads over there)

Not at all. It's the doubts, the extreme effort to convince which doesn't usually mix well with testimonials of happiness.

It's like the old saying: "... if you have it you don't need to show it, if you need to show it is because you don't have it".

I just got back from the dealer and looked at one of the Shelby GT's. They wanted 50,000 and some change for it. Way over priced for what you get. It's a nice looking car but after the first ones sell to the folks that have been wating of this car to come out they will be sitting on the showroom floors for all of us to look at. Just think how ****ed someone will be when they get smoked by a GT with mild mod's.

Anyone that buys this car for speed is misinformed and should spend their dollars elsewhere. Anyone that thinks people are buying this car for speed is misguided and isn't the target of this version. Simple as that!

If you don't like the car...vote with your dollars and go elsewhere but don't be disagreeable about it.

Oh, and when you race that SGT, hope it's not one of the many ordered with the optional Supercharger at 475HP.

I have seen a couple of posts on stangsunleashed about the grille issue. 2 said it was a disappointment (along with the different floormats) and a couple of others said the grille was no big deal.

Besides TMS those 2 are the only others that I often check for Shelby GT info. I've already expressed my disappointment on this grille insert issue. I was just wondering if it's a big deal here and nowhere else or widespread. Doesn't seem to be as big an issue over at stangsunleashed.

I said that they were way over priced for what you get. I never said anyone was buying for speed. I also was not being disagreeable, in fact I didn't try to dispute anyone just give my 2 cents. I know why folks are picking these cars up. It has more to do with them coming from the shelby shop. It's a nice looking car and I would get one but 50,000 no way. The base price for the one I saw was 31,000. If you think that the upgrades and the name are worth 19,000 that's up to you.
If you add the S/C (4795 to buy one off the web site this may be the one I get) then I would guess you would be pushing 60,000.
