Ordering my 08 GT/CS..some last ?'s

I am getting everything put together on my 08 GT/CS order...I really don't see much value in most options. I am just ordering a basic GT Prem pkg with 54C (CSGT) ond 455 (3.55 LSD)..other than that I don't think I am getting anything else....

I am not going to get the GT appearance pkg...I think it is kind of a rip-off for GT/CS owners since part of the pkg (rolled tip exhaust) is also part of the GT/CS pkg. But no cut in price???? Doesn't really matter though because I will be getting a shaker installed anyway.

What other options do you have/wish you had when you ordered?

I was only going to get the Grabber Orange...but this weekend I saw my first Metallic Vapor.....WOW...I am kind of stuck between the two..any suggestions? Any opinions?

my color comes with the interior upgrade package. I'd get that, the cali spec package, and thats about all you need. The rest is sort of really just extras. Shaker 500 is my choice since I will likely go custom on sub/amp. Get a Hurst shifter like in the shelby gt or an MGW probably to make it awesome.

I don't like the hood scoop look personally so yeah no prem upgrade package for me. It looks awesome without it and you could always get a shaker...

When I ordered my 07, I ordered every available option except the sat rad and shaker 1000. Even ordered the bluetooth. Glad I did. Wish Ford had an option for auto headlights.
I figured I don't order that often, and I wanted it all.

ugh man this guy really **** up your thread. At the moment the only other option I would consider that we haven't mentioned is the comfort group. Being originally from florida I don't really get the whole desire for heated seats but some say its nice. My passenger can adjust there seat without electronics. I don't need a compass in my rear view mirror. The rest of the options like hid's and ambient lightning seem like garbage to me.
I ordered a white GT/CS
with the dove interior
satin panel-its retro and I like it.
wheel locking kit
anti theft
interior upgrade package
sirius satellite radio

A hurst shifter is being installed at the dealer as part of my package.

I'm seriously interested in the shaker hood, frpp/borla stingers, a cai, kenne bell supercharger but these will come later.
Whatever you decide will be great. Just take the time to sit in all the vehicles that are available in your area and make sure the packages you pick match what you like.

You and I are really on the same page of mods "want list" That is kind of why I am wanting to lay low on options...and mod heavy once I get it....

You said you are getting the shifter as part of a package? Did you include this in buy price? Just something you decided to buy?

I really liked the Grabber Orange, and was going to order that. The problem I had was that there is ONLY one GT/CS interior choice, Charcoal and Parchment (Tan). You can NOT get the charcoal and Dove (grey). Why Ford imposed this limitation on the GO, I don't know. I looked at some pictures on-line, and in my opinion, the GO looks bad with the tan color interior. I would want black or charcoal. This issue was enough for me to change my order to a black car.

You might really like the tan and GO combo, but if I were you I'd check out some pictures on-line and see what you think...

I would highly recommend the charcoal dash panel and the Hurst Short Throw Shifter. If you are getting the Black and Dove interior the charcol dash looks great with the that interior. Also if yours is the 5-speed, you want the Hurst short throw shifter. Extremely positive change in shifting. Also if you are considering rear window slats, get the Roush ones. They have a great look and they fit right.

You are going to really like the car.

Also just took a long trip over to Elkhart Lake (Road America) last weekend for the ALMS and Champ Car races and averaged 26 mi. per gal., with the 3.55 rear end in the car.

I'm paying seperate for the hurst short throw shifter. I feel like thats the one thing the shelby gt has that really just gives it that classic look. I feel it will complete the package though and really make the interior complete. Dealer is checking on the shifter and how much it will be right now. I'm going to do that and get the windows tinted first.

Next will be frpp/stinger axle backs, Amp/Sub from Crutchfield. I will likely do the minimalist approach with 1 12 inch sub/amp in the trunk like the special fit deals on crutchfields website. I can do this stuff myself so these will be my first true mods I guess.

I ordered an auto and I keep going back and forth wondering if I should of went manual. The only problem is everytime I have a manual I say I will never own another because of traffic, etc. Its a pain in the *** shifting 1 million times in traffic.

I dunno...I wish the 08's came with the ability to manually shift the auto.

I love manual but I drive one now in my F150. I find that it gives me something to do while I drive. I've always been a multitasker though. If you don't enjoy stick enough to put up with it in traffic you certainly did the right thing going with an Automatic. They say the shifts are faster than any manual could ever be so you will have an advantage if you are going to drag race or whatever. As a daily driver you will have nice smooth shifts coming from the engine but you won't be actively controlling the shift process.
It's a personal preference. You will be fine with an automatic I think.

dealer is checking if he can change my panel to the charcoal dash panel this morning. I think you are right that it probably does look better with the dove insert interior.

I test drove a GT/CS at my local dealer before I ordered mine from another. It was a automatic and you are correct about the shifting. I couldnt believe how fast it shifted. My dad used to have a 68 with a 289 hi-pro, auto with a stage 2 or 3 shiftkit...cant remember which one, but it was the narliest of shifts...

anyway...the GT/CS shifts even faster than racing kits.

Hurray, looks like the dealer got the change in so I'll have the charcoal dash panel. Thanks for the advice. I was reluctant to change it until you mentioned it and I'm sure it will make a difference to me.

Comfort group is worth it for me. At first I thought, "living in Los Angeles with so much sun, will I ever need heated seats?"

Silly me...of course i do! Feels great after a long day of work
The compass is 'whatever' cuz I dont really need it, but the powered seats are awesome!

And mine came with the MY COLOR instrument panel feature. Its a real conversation piece. I also went with the Shaker500, but had my aftermarket Sirius from my last car, but thats worth it too.

I havent seen Vapor in person, Grabber does look pretty sick...flip a coin?
