Gt/cs Comments

Well Gang, I've been told all along that they(FORD)really haven't made all that many GT/CS's. But I'm no expert! Mr. Jeff just posted a FoMoCo, proposed possible 5% GT/CS build for all of the 2008 Mustang production. And if that turns out to be a fairly close guess, it would seem to indicate some pretty small numbers. Even if the GT/CS is only an option package on the GT Stang, I feel that it's still a little special i.e. C/S!

I order all the Mustangs for our dealership, and I often order 10-15% of our Mustangs as GT/CS's. Last week I order 11 Mustangs, and 4 of those were GT/CS's, for example.
You gotta take the order guide's recommended mix with a grain of salt.

Please understand that the order guide's recommended mix of 5% is just Ford's suggestion of what they think a dealer should order, and is not any kind of restriction on orders or true measure of how many were really ordered.

In our market, one dealer had more than 45 Mustangs for 2007, of which only two were GT/CS; another had more than 20, without ordering any GT/CS. While the season up here is short for Mustang's due to the weather, both dealers were amply supplied with GT500's and Shelby GTs, all of which sold, a number of which were out area.
For this year, 2008, neither dealer has ordered a GT/CS. Both seem to be more interested in the profits derived from selling SGTs and GT500s, then from what profit is to be derived from an upscaled GT premium vert. That's how a dealer described it to me, adding that "there is more money to be made in program cars, than in a GT/CS."
I'm hoping that you will agree with me that all markets are different, and that all dealers hope to make a profit. Best of luck to you with your market.

Hey I've seen one other GT/CS in my area, and of course its black like mine and the guy never washes it and it looks very poorly taken care of. I always wanted to mod mine to match my taste, but this guy's poor car helped make my mind up to do it quicker.

I generally get Wow you have a Carroll Shelby ! ah no the C/S actually means California Special & I then pray they don't ask on that part, as I love the car & all , I just don't feel that they did Special any Justice here !

The 2007 Dealer Order Guide showed a 5% proposed build number for the GT/CS as well. Checking out the 2007 Mustang production on media.ford.com, we see 2007 Mustang production of 134,626, down from 2006 production from 166,530. Five percent would work out to approximately 6,750 GT/CS units for 2007.

I looked at those figures and it appears they are talking about sales for December and Total Year 2007 not production numbers. By the way, has anyone seen production #'s for '07 (by color, vert or coupe)?
Thanks
Tom

I am hoping to order my GT/CS in Dark Candy Apple Red in the next week. Anyone roughly know the wait time on these, this will be my 1st time ordering a Stang and I am getting all the Bells and Whistles on it that I can...LOL

An average wait time for a special ordered Mustang GT/CS is about 8-10 weeks currently, but a lot depends on how many Mustangs your dealership gets allocated per week and how many other Mustang orders they have ahead of yours (if any). But, I feel safe quoting 8-10 weeks for 80% of the orders (some will come quicker, some longer).

GO for it. You will like it. You can do thousands of things to make it your own. I tell my friends that I never drive mine that I don't get out feeling 20 years younger with a smile on my face.

Ok, I got my dream car, a black on black 07 Shelby vert. My wife liked the car so much she traded her car in on a White and Black GT/CS vert. I drive both, but get looked at more and asked more questions about the CS then my Shelby. Sure go to a car "thing" and people know the Shelby. But the general population seems to likes her car better.
Not very scientific, just an observation...

Seriously, I look forward to driving mine every day. The only reason I make it to work every morning is because I get to drive my car.
The only mustang I ever made a mistake on buying was my 2000 GT. I got it with an automatic and became bored with it after a few months. It was just like any other car to me with the auto.
I did the "unthinkable" to get my GT/CS. I sold my mint 1993 GT. I was the first owner of the 93. I was really worried seing it driving away but since I got my 2008 I havn't even looked back. I love this car as much if not more than any of the 5 mustangs I have owned.
