Waiting for Super Charger to Kick In?

On the Shelby Forum, someone stated you had to drive the GT500 for X amount of miles before the supercharger kicks in. Is this true? One of the posters stated 50 miles, another stated 50 starts, and another said 5 miles. Just curious. I'd look in my owner's manual but it is still wrapped in plastic.
thanks,
mitch

Ford has no reference to 50 miles. It can be a variation of mileage and up to 50 cold starts or the limit is removed with 5 consecutive miles, I suppose that means uninterupted miles of driving.

I noticed mine started kicking in and slowly increasing the boost after 15 or so miles with some stop and go driving.

You should be able to download a copy of your owners manual in PDF format on the MyFord website. https://myford.fordvehicles.com Just register for free and you can keep track of maintenance, download owners manuals, and do all kinds of other neat stuff.

I was one of the "50 mile" guys.

I drove the car over 5 miles consecutively and still no boost. Once i surpassed the 50 mile mark, i had boost. You'll never forget the 1st time you experience it.

I was told by my local speed shop to disconnect the negative battery terminal and then tap the brakes a few times to drian any excess charge....I did it and Voila....Boost. Have no idea why.

Exclamation Does no one read the freakin' owners manual?

Come on people! Does no one read the freakin' owners manual?

The alternate calibration (see Owners Supplement Page 8) restricts the supercharger to partial output and the engine rpm to 4,000 for the first CONSECUTIVE 5 miles or 50 engine start/warm up cycles.

I felt my full power kick in at the 5 consecutive mile mark while cruising along on the road at 45 miles per hour. It was almost magical...

Now....(and this part isn't in the manual or supplement), if you've satisfied one of these two criteria and you still don't think your car is up to snuff,
disconnect your battery.....
wait 10 minutes....
reconnect the battery and start the car.

It's a reset of the ecm.

Yeah, but we only read it for the articles.
