Why is that?

Dude, you're living in a different universe than the rest of us if you think $70-$80K toy cars are affordable by the masses.

I think thats cool but I am waiting for the Superduper Snake from Shelby with 1000 un-useable h/p for 150K and runs on rocket fuel.

Yeah, if the first # in the price starts with a 4 or higher then I would guess it's going to be out of reach (or difficult to justify) for maybe +90% of folks on TMS. I could be wrong (maybe there are more financially well off folks on here than I assume). Heck, I couldn't justify spending upper $30s for the Shelby GT.

Sure there are plenty of folks able and willing to buy these expensive toys, but for the rest of us, it's really has no relevance.

Agreed. The Shelby name is now diluted so bad it means nothing. Shelby is little more than a marketing company and FRPP bolt-on installer.

15,000+ GT500's after 2008MY.
500 GT-H
500 GT-H verts
10,000+ GT's
1000 KR's

Wow, Shelby's sure are rare!

Hey More Parts to Retrofit! {If}you can get Them. The Hood Sure is Cool! Altough I do not Disagree with some of the Comments . I would Think there would be Less High Rollers Buying the Regular GT-500's Since they Crave the Most Exotic. So More Supply for the Masses with Smaller or Hopefully No ADM's on Regular 500's

That's about as many as they were making of the old ones.

Of course, back then there was more regular Mustangs to even out the balance.

Not even close.

14,809 in 6 years isnt exactly "about as many" as 27,000 in 2 years

How about we stop ****ing and be glad there's any new Shelby Mustangs at all? I can't even afford a base V6, and I'm still glad for the KR and Super Snake.

I am not glad at all that there are any Shelby's. I wanted an 07' Cobra. What we got was an 07 Cobra with a $30,000 plastic nameplate. Shelby is a marketing company and FRPP bolt-on shop imo. They're doing a brilliant job milking baby boomers though. SVT badged Cobra's gave you real value. Shelby has destroyed that. Well, the people buying into it have. Did you know Shelby owners are offended if you refer to their cars as Mustangs? lol

I really love the 2007 Ford SVT Cobra. I was more than dismayed when it got badged as a "Shelby" and called a "GT500". I'm 31, I don't give a **** about Carroll Shelby or the 60's.

While I agree with you about the dilution of the Shelby name, saying "I'm 31, I don't give a **** about Carroll Shelby or the 60's" is a bit harsh, and more than a tiny bit disrespectful.

Unfortunately, that's all too typical of young people today - no understanding or respect for the accomplishments of the past...ones that have directly led to the present. In their eyes, if it happened before 1977, it basically didn't happen.

If it weren't for the '60s, you wouldn't be driving the car you are now.

What's typical of older people is no understanding or respect for the accomplishments of the recent past. John Coletti is the reason you have the GT500 of today. Not Carroll Shelby. Coletti is the man behind the 03/04 "Terminator" Cobra, which you shoud note is VERY similar to the GT500. You'll find it interesting to note that most GT500 buyers don't have any knowledge or respect for that car, which has a hell of lot more in common with the 07 GT500 than 60's musclecars do. No respect for anything past THEIR youthful period. A lot of these guys think the GT500 is some sort of "new era" for Mustangs. They seriously have no idea what the 03 Cobra is/was.

The 60's have nothing to do with today's performance cars. Absolutely nothing. Performance in Mustangs died in the 70's, and was woken up in the late 80's with the fuel injected 5.0 and the enormous aftermarket for them.

I wasn't disparaging the accomplishments of the recent past. I was pointing out the lack of respect for the vehicle's origins and heritage, without which, you would not be driving a "modern" mustang today.

What's "typical" of older enthusiasts, is that they've seen it all, and they know the world didn't begin in 1977.

No one has seen it all.
