Sorry guys but it's been real but Ford once again drops the ball and lets GM pounce all over them.

Bye bye. Have fun.

I'm thinking it'll start around $42,000-$45,000 plus about $20K (or more, depending on fuel prices) in dealer markup for at least the first 6 months.

Haven't seen that figure released either, but a minor bump in power would not be surprising. I'd imagine they'd just roll in as standard some of the Bullitt motor features to get a nominally higher HP number they could tout in their ads ("New 2010 Mustang with even more power ... oh, a piddling 10hp...").

Undoubtedly, Ford's saving its efforts for the real power bump in 2011 when the 5.0 comes online with more like 400hp.

Ok, seeya. I'll stick with the 400hp <3600lbs 2011 mustang.

Exactly, there is no way an SS will be $30k unless GM wants to lose a crapload of money on each car sold

Hope you like the Rear of the new 'Stang because you'll be seeing plenty of it as it's growing smaller in the distance.

Exactly!!! I hope he likes to pay out the rear for his new SS!! I already heard dealers are "licking their chops" at having the Camaro on the floor and the potential markups they will ask (and undoubtely get). Don't be suprised to see the SS go for almost $50K with markup!!

Let him go everyone. His loss of a new 2010/2011 Mustang will go to someone else who really wants one.

Something tells me he is going to regret jumping ship before the reveal..... I don't trust that window sticker for a flat minute! I'm not saying that there's gonna be a 5.0 or not, but somehow I don't think 2010 is going to be "The Year of the Mustang" with the same ol' leftover anything from the 2009 base or GT models.

The G8 V8 base price is under 30k. surely the Camaro SS won't be 40k.

Actually, the base G8 V8 was under 30k, the car gets a couple thou price hike for 2009. And even with the price hike GM is no doubt losing their @@@ on every one they import. Personally, I don't doubt the Camaro SS will start below 30k (meaning 29,999) for it's first model year. But much like the G8, at that price GM will never see a dime on those cars.

I know I've been carrying this torch for a while now, and I've run into a lot of folks who prefer to ignore the mountain of evidence and argue that this isn't so clear cut in the process. But the cold hard truth is that Zeta has either A: turned out to be a massive money loser for GM or B: GM is apparently determined to go out of their way to make it look that way squandering billions in development costs and long term product plans in the process.

I'm going with option A.

I suppose what i am trying to get at here is....if GM were actually to realize a profit on the SS my bet is that the car would be closer to 40k than 30k.

i agree jay. They COULD offer it for $30k, but they would lose SO much money. If I were them I would sell it at $40k and make money off the die hard Camaro fans. Either way, the Stang will outsell it so they might as well make a buck
