On another note (zips flame suit) some of the responses crack me up. You knock any thing about the Camaro's interior or more notably the rear visibility (which most owners claim to "get used too"). Responses ran like "you spend most of your time on the inside" etc and citing it as the number one reason to deject it yet turn around here and slam someone who doesn't like the position of something that for the most part is going to be an uncomfortable problem the whole time they are in the car. So something that you can "get over" is an instant turn off or proof of garbage on one, yet a point for ridicule for even mentioning on another or to go so far as labeling them a troll? This doesn't sound like a troll thread to me just someone disappointed because he wanted and she didn't. If she's the passenger more than likely most of the time her head will be on the headrest. We all accept some quirks for a something we really like but some people don't care about cars like we do and are more interested in ancedotal things to us like headrests.

Go back to Camaro5. . .

Safety Safety Safety.. Blah Blah Blah.. so you're saying that the rear headrests that conform to new 2011 safety regulation are no good and will give you whiplash because they don't lean forward like the front ('05+) do??? There's no reason for the front ones to be so far forward.

My guess is that rear seat whiplash regulations are different than those for the front seats. Why would Ford spend extra money to make the headrest less comfortable?

They were different but not anymore, now any passenger seat in the car has to have the same protection, Ford just designed them poorly in '05 and never changed them.

Edit.. p.s. sorry for Blah-ing you

I didnt read the whole thread but it would be impossible for her to be concerned with the headrest if her face is in your lap like its supposed to be. lol

I did try to set the head rest at different notch, move seat back and forth, tilt the back to different angle...etc. But just can't find a good position for her. I guess the reason might be her height, 4'11''. At that height, when I set the seat good for her neck, she can't reach steering wheel or paddles comfortably. As for me, I can notice it also but I heard of that before and don't care too much.

So, as suggested by David, we are going to find her a user car/cuv she likes first, then buy me MY stang a few months later which would be dedicated MY car. This is a good compromise to me. After a few months (at most 6-7 months), I would get a job2 stang with more options and tiny bug fixed or even reach for a rumorred 2012 stang. Not bad at all.

BTW, I confirmed two things today.
1. there is no spare tire for v6 stangs, only the mobility kit.
2. the 500 rebate is still available even it doesn't show in ford website.

Cheers
Since you're wife is only 4' 11" she should pay extra special attention to her driving position. For her own safety she should ideally have a car that has telescoping steering and/or adjustable pedals. All too often people of her height end up with their face/chest too close to the steering wheel in order to reach the pedals. This can be very dangerous as this could put them inside the airbag's expansion zone. Some people have been seriously injured (rarely, even killed) by airbags because they sat too close to the wheel. She needs to find a car where she can reach the pedals while steering with her arms about 3/4's fully extended in order to allow the airbag to do its job properly.

agreed, there is no way that forward angle is required by some safety regulation . . . head rests yes, but not crazy forward angled head rests . . . plenty of other cars around that meet safety regulations with a normal vertical design . . . we got some good leads on my other post about the headrests, looks like it won't be a big deal to replace them, though they won't exactly match the interior.

The headrests suck, period. My friend also has the same complaint about his car.

I love the headrests. I find them very comfortable. (For the record I'm 6'2", sit up fairly straight and have a bad back.)

If you look closely, they're not that forward leaning. They appear that way because of the sharp angle in the back.
