I think the Porsche is trying to catch you... Seems like he is pushing it harder. Looks like a ton of fun. I respect you guys who can do this. Very nice!

Very cool! nice find and nice save! tough to recover when almost fully sideways without over-compensating

This^^. You were about to run out of race track! Great car control, and nice job staying with it.

I think you're right. I typically drive at 8/10ths when I'm by myself, but as soon as I see cars on the horizon, or someone faster just passed me I got into chase mode, which is 9/10ths

Thanks guys! Yeah, this was a bit nerve wrecking. Staring at the tire wall, sideways. I was like "not today!!" haha I was a bit lucky too. I've made the mistake of over correcting, or holding a correction for too long, and being flung off the track in the opposite direction of the initial over-steer.

So I've learned to just do a fast correction, and repeat is that isn't enough. This slide was a double tap.

If you're interested to see it from my vantage point here is the vid. 1:55 rougly corresponds to overtaking the Porsche. I had another slide in that corner on the last lap of this video too.

Did a Good Guys autocross event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was too **** cold of the morning, haning around 47 degrees. I couldnt get any traction through my first couple of runs. I couldnt get my tires to heat up with the cold pavement, it felt like I was driving on ice and was almost 10 seconds off the pace. Then a sobering accident occured where a Focus ST plowed into a wall of k rails. Driver was gunning for the leader postion as he was in 2nd place at that point and way overdrove the car and the tires. Guy tried to take a 90 degree turn at WOT and understeered right into the wall. Sobering thought that the guy had to be taken out in an ambulance, totaled his car, and will have to be making payments on a totaled car. So with that thought in my head and that corner having coolant, oil, and that powder crap trying to absorb it, I had no more desire to pursue the leaders and took it easy for the rest of the day ending about 4 seconds off pace.

Then ran 5 laps on the speedway where I let her clear her throat, I just wish my go pro actually caputed it

****, sorry to hear about the guy in the ST. Hope he's ok. I've seen about 5 or so wrecks since I started doing track days. It can be dangerous when the driver goes past their limits. Good work keeping it on the track.

This is why I spend the $$ on track days insurance. Pushing yourself and your car means you're right at the edge of the envelope, and disaster is potentially just on the other side.

How much is that track insurance usually?

Under $200 for a weekend. The caveat is that
a) you still have a 10% deductible, and
b) that doubles the cost of a track day (or increases by 50% if you do full weekend)

But to me it's a lot easier walking away from $2,600 if I total the car than $26,000.

Exactly.

Now that guy has no car, and his regular insurance will not cover that so now he will have to continue making payments on a car that doesnt exist anymore. From how the car was sitting it was clear there is a good amount of frame damage and it will be totaled, or I would be confident it betting on it at least. Even if it was salvageable the repair would be very expensive and that car will never be the same.

If he has the right kind of friends he'll have the car towed to a lonely section of a highway and place it so it looks like it happened there, on a public road, which would make the repair covered by his insurance.
Not trying to contribute to any insurance fraud, mind you.

Took it into the dealer for my last warranty fix. Had a front marker light that was loose. While in I got my fall oil change taken care of, and Best of all I got the AIR BAG RECALL fixed! Yes!

Also put version 4.6 of SYNC on the car over the weekend. Haven't noticed much change yet.

I made an appointment friday for the airbag recall and a sync 4.6 update while im there.

Today i ordered gt500 rear rotors, as well as hawk pc brake pads front and rear.

Next is anti bump steer end links, watts link, rear lower control arms, and control arm drop brackets.

are you people getting letters in the mail about this? I'm wondering if I should do it before I store the car in a few weeks or wait until spring.
