Hate is a harsh word ... The front styling is not to my liking .. too bulbous and Chrysleresque. I like the rear tailights ... but do not like the new rear valance and license plate surround. I also prefer the black side skirts to give the car a sleaker look.
I also like the fact the Ford might have fixed the Piston Popping issue ...

Hate is probably a strong word for a model change that will be indistinguishable to people who don't hang out on car forums.
Now, when '10s came out there was some SERIOUS hate from the 05-09s
AND when the '05s came out there was some SERIOUS hate from 99-04s
I sense a pattern.

Yah, since the new V6's have the distinct shelby badging, distinctive styling and appearance, and a 650 hp powertrain that can't be distinguished from a 3.7L block They look so identical, I don't know how Ford can even figure out if they've made a V6 or a GT500 when one rolls of the production line. Maybe they look at the VIN and reference it to a database

Will be interesting to see what these couple small engine changes mean to people tuning or boosting them.

I'm holding my opinion until I get to see some 2013's in the flesh, and even then, my opinion may change.
I will state that I think the full painted side skirts and rear valence will be overkill on lighter painted cars.
As for haters, I never liked the 99-04 models, only had one, and it was an '04 Cobra, and even then, still hated the styling, I only bought it for the engine.

I just came back from the Twin Cities Auto Show. They had a 2013 Shelby GT 500 vert on display. The dark blue looks very nice, very deep color. The car itself looks good in the flesh, much better then the photos I have seen. I am still up in the air about the tail lights. Fit and finish looked very good. All in all a very nice, low key redo.

Purely my opinion:
2012 best looking Muscle cars in order:
Mustang Boss 302
Mustang GT
Challenger SRT392
Shelby GT500
Challenger R/T
Camaro SS
Charger R/T
2013 best looking Muscle Cars in order:
Challenger SRT392
Shelby GT500
Camaro ZL-1
Camaro SS
Mustang Boss 302
Mustang GT
Charger R/T
In fairness, I love the Charger and Camaro too... but the Mustang has dropped significantly in my personal opinion. The headlights are awful, and it's just to "in your face," too plasticy.
The GT500 pulls the look off for me..for whatever reason. I think the stripes and grille treatment work especially knowing what's under the hood.
I wouldnt kick any of them out of my garage.

I think Ford is making a mistake making so many changes every year or two. Its frustrating the owners Im sure. I know when they came out with the 05, it stayed the same till 09, leaving owners to enjoy their look without feeling obsolete or outdated six months after a large purchase. Make a design/style and stay with it for a few years, then do your refresh.
