The car hasn't been clayed yet. I'm not sure there's any contaminates, but I want to be safe rather than sorry. The other aspect is that my Hyundai could use a good clay treatment. I noticed just today while washing it that the paint is in less than stellar condition.

Megs is certainly another option. I'm not sure about their sealant though. Will it last as long as the Klasse or Collinite?

There will always be contaminates. Your car will be transported from Dearborn (?) on a carrier, so expect some road grit (unless its covered w/plastic)

Megs and Mothers will have great all-around shine and durability; there good at everything but probably lack in some aspects next to Klasse and Collinite. If you're waxing every 6 weeks, then it's not a concern. I used Mothers on my '01 True Blue 'stang and my '05 GT and both were/are stunning...

I've got a Raptor arriving soon, and I will be doing exactly this. Rail dust is a real thing. It gets magnetically charged and will stick and embed into your clearcoat. You definitely want to remove it. These cars are not trasported in a vacuum. Do this and you will enjoy your car's finish for many, many years.

I'm assuming your're buying brand new, so the dealer will "prep" it so it's presentable. You may want to request no prep work be done so you can get it in virgin cosmetic condition. Then go to town on the cleaning and detailing.

I have said leave it like you got it. I'll even come up there to remove the plastic. I'll put the antenna on so they don't strip it and I'll mount my own front plate bracket, if I even choose to.

When my car gets home and it's dirty from not letting the dealership detail it does it need to be polished? Wash, clay, wax and done good enough?

I just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfEfLGL59GI on meguiars detailing clay and I have a question.

How many clay bars do you need to fully do the car once? In that vid he did one small section and the clay looked like it was halfway done on one side.

One bar will last you 3-5 sessions I would say.

Two ounces is enough to do three or four vehicles. On average, a vehicle will need to be clayed twice a year. At this rate, one 2 oz. clay bar will last you 18 months to 2 years if used on the same vehicle.
