Seat Belt Chipped My Window :[

Has that happened to anyone else?

I just noticed it today so I don't know when it happened. I usually unclick the seat belt and sort of guide it back before letting go. The problem is that the seat belt thing is so far back, it's impossible for me to guide it back all the way unless I use my right arm and reach over my left shoulder everytime. The result is it just gets pulled back, with the buckle usually bouncing against my window or the inside of the door.

I'm 6'1 so my seat is pretty far back. My mom is 5'6/5'7 and she can't even depress the clutch fully sitting in the position I set my seat. I have to turn around to reach the seat belt with my right hand everytime I buckle up. How do you shorter guys manage?

That said, I understand it's a characteristic of a coupe. Just curious if that has happened to anyone else..

I'm going to try to find one of those DIY window chip repair kits.

On my '07 vert, the tint got chipped several times but never the window. I have noticed the same possible problem with this '11 too.

I reach mine by going low to the back with my left hand and hook the belt lower by the seat tilt lever. I am 6'3" and not skinny.......seat is way back.

I think it is the same in my 07 or possibly worse from your description from the 05-09 to the 10+. I reach with right arm to forward passenger belt to the person. Always have to reach to the back for mine and not let it fly back. Ive seen a bunch of options, some cool on here, int mods has it showing i think in 05-09 "post your non stock shifters" thread.

Happened to me on my '06 F150. OMG it pissed me off. Then I was sad.

I thought my window should have busted a few times from the seat belt, but somehow i did not end up with chips or a shattered window. It is just a matter of time if I am not careful.

Interesting. I would think it would take a good amount of force to put a chip in the window. Especially from something that is pretty dull

Try reaching over your left shoulder with your left hand and grab the belt. It should be right there with the extender clicked in place. When you unbuckle, use your left hand to guide it back, gently, over your shoulder. Works for me. Being as tall as you are this should be easy with your seat set further back than mine is. Worth a try.

I usually grab the belt before closing the door, actually. And for unbuckling, I let it guide itself back until it hits my left shoulder, then I shrug it off till it goes back till it's normal spot.

The reach for the seat belt and the violent retraction is the most annoying thing about my car. I like the older models that had the belt guide on the seatback to the outside of the armrest.
